I think you would be much better off on an Ex-Pats forum rather than a holiday forum.

Just google ex pats forum Spain and a couple of the more populat ex pats forums will show and you should be able to get lots of info on the fors and againsts for buying in specific locations.

I've been to VillaMartin and more often to the general
Torrevieja area.
I wouldn't even think about buying if I hadn't spent time
in the place first.
Would they consider rent to buy?

I'm trying not to upset anybody who might own a place
there so lets just say that it is not one of the most favourable
locations in the area.

I would consider buying there but the value for money would have
to be very good.

There is an ex-pats section further down this board but I don't know how busy it gets.
Although VM is a fair distance from Torrevieja they all tend to get classed as the same place,
there are several Torrevieja forums which will have info on VM.
