have just recently discovered this forum and it is very informative. Have read all the post regarding car hire, and have opted to get a car with economycarhire as they seem to be highly recommended.
now for the problem
going to Alvor in 2 weeks time. Trouble is that I dont have a credit card. I was going to book a car on my fathers credit card and then pay the €50 in cash (the deposit for petrol) when I pickup the car. I have just called up economycarhire and they said I cant do this as I will need to present the credit card when I pick up the car. The lady on the phone asked if anyone else I was travelling with would be able to pay for it. I said my girlfriend could on her debit card but the lady said they wont accept one!
so... anyone know what I could do to get a car? I'm gonna look into getting a credit card but dont think I will get one in time. Could I just book it on my father card as I intended and take it with me?
I dont see why I shouldnt be able to hire a car as I dont have a credit card, I hate the things!
