I'd stick to Pafos. As you're going at the beginning of October this is where you'll get the best weather, should be in the high 70's low 80's.
Plenty of character and lots of history and full of culture.

The town bustles especially Cato Pafos, the harbour area is really good and very safe. Vist Tomb Of the Kings and the Mosaics which are in the Harbour area. Good beaches at Coral Bay and some of the best restuarants you'll find anywhere in Cato Pafos.

Protaras will be starting to close down for the end of season. Limassol and Paphos stay open all year.
Lots to do and see in and around Limassol too.

Is Limassol close to Paphos, as in regards to the hotel's Paphos was alot better.

it is about 35 to 40 mins drive between the two towns along a very good highway!

If you stay in Paphos then a trip to the Kourion just on the outskirts of Limassol is very easy in a day.

Lovely place and takes around 40 - 50 mins to get there along the B road not the motorway because that way you can stop off to get a photo of Petra Tou Romiou and other scenic places along the way.

The motorway would be quicker but not as good.

The drive is great!

Amber and Karl here, just to say we think Paphos will be your best bet, we have been going for years and it's a great place. Everything that people have written already is very true, we think you will be pleased if you go there. Get a jeep and go up into the mountains if you can, visit Kykkos monastery and some of the old villages. The people are amazingly friendly, the sea will be warm. Go out on a glass bottom boat or book a day trip on one of the large boats that take holiday makers out.
