I haven't been on many holidays abroad with my parents, but the holidays i have been on were good ones. Florida was probably the best. They saved up for a long time to take me and my sister there, and although I cant remember much of it, we had a great time.

Last years holiday to Alanya, Turkey was really special though. First holiday without my parents, and boyfs first time abroad. I'll never forget it!

First trip to Caribbean with friends (Dom Rep)
Our Silver Wedding, just hubby and me (Corfu)

Have had loads of great hols in between and after the above :sun2 :)

err..there are a few actually.
1) When I went to Taba..i tried scuba diving for the first time and also went to Israel, something I have wanted to do all my life
2) When we went to Lanzarote as a new family for the first tim (me and Rob and my son and Rob's daughter)
3) When just Rob and I went to Gozo last summer. We have been before but I totally fell in love with the Island and we explored every last inch of the place.

oh..and I must mention the next one..and the one after that. I hope to have something memorable about every holiday!!!

The most special holiday has to be when we went to Mexico, it made such an impression on all of us, the children included. Everything about it was memorable from the hotels to the excursions. After that it would have to be our first family skiing holiday that we went on in February. Although I had my ups and downs the children loved it and both are desperate to go again. I knew our eldest would enjoy it, but the youngest amazed us since she won't even ride a bike, yet by the end of the week was flying down the mountain on skis.
For me a holiday becomes magical, not just because we enjoyed ourselves but for the lasting memories that it gives both us and the children. They are getting experiences that as children we could only dream of and the fact that they still talk abaout it months and even years afterwards, makes all the saving and preparation so worthwhile.

hya, I started a similar thread a while ago about your ' best holiday' and got loads of people recounting a great holiday, but I don't mind repeating mine !
cuba, march 2000, me and hubby ran away to get married, we partied in the hotel after with loads of strangers of all nationalities, had a great time, then 9 months later our gorgeous daughter was born !
we have had many memorable holidays since then as a family , and hope to have many more to come !
The plan is for our 'biggy' holiday in 2010 is to renew our vows in mexico with our daughter as bridesmaid, so maybe thats a future memorable holiday !
cheers,
juby

I have been lucky and travelled quite a lot, Cambodia was my most 'special place' it was awesome loved the people , the countryside , the temples, the food , everything.
Not on everyone's list I agree , but for me it was unbeatable :D so much so that I am going to see more of it this year.

I also loved Thailand when we went to Ko Samui in 99 before it became commercialised.

The most special was last year, we went to the Maldives for hubbys 40th birthday, it was paradise on earth, second would be Cancun where we went for our honeymoon and was the first time either of us had been further than Greece and in a really tropical environment, then a really close third would be Bali. The culture there took our breaths away and is somewhere we would like to return to one day.

I think every holiday has a special memory for one reason or another, it's difficult to focus on one particular one.

My favourite holiday was to Japan. A real eye-opener. Totally different culture, lovely people, very different food and bowing to everyone. Big problems with language so had lots of laughs. Toilet rolls were outside the supermarket, so having searched everywhere inside my husband was in stitches as I tried to mime to the assistant what I was looking for. She did not help by giggling at me! I am always terrified of flying, but forgot my fears seeing all these sunrises and sunsets from the plane. Unforgetable!

Hi there.

My most special holiday was when I went to Tunisia last November.
My Father and mother in law (to be) were looking for somewhere suitable to go on a winter holiday as my prospective father in law sufferd badly from athritis. My Fiancee (at the time) and I recommended a hotel that we had been in a couple of years earlier. As it happened the "in laws" weren't too sure about going to somewhere they'd never been before, so we ended up booking with them.As they stayed up north we decided to book our wedding around the holiday so that they didn't have to travel up and down twice, and we flew out 2 days after we got married.
Jim (my father in law) didn't appear to keep too well on holiday and a couple of days after we arrived back in the UK he ended up in hospital where (eventually) it was discovered that he had lung cancer.Unfortunately he didn't have much time out of hospital and eventually passed away at the end of January.
The reason this holiday was special was that it gave my wife the chance to have one last holiday with her parents and we were very grateful that her dad was able to give her away at our wedding despite the fact that he must've been in pain.
Many thanks Jim. You'll never be forgotten.
