hi Noggin,
Jump off at Tivim Station - it's not too far from Mapusa City. Going from memory they don't have a pre-paid taxi rank but plenty of taxis (usually) hanging around!!
Have a fab time.

Tivim is your closet point to Calangute. If for some reason you miss that one the next one is called Karmali . Its in Old Goa and a 30 minute drive to Calangute.

Please be aware that trains wil run upto 20 hours late on the Mumbai-Goa route as the Konkan Railway runs into major problems with mud slides in the rainy season. It has happened to me a few times so the warning. I would rather fly than go by train in June-July and flights are very cheap in this period anyway; as close to train fares !

Make sure you are reserved in an A/C compartment.

If i`m not mistaken there is a jet airways office on your way out of the airport where you can buy tickets and you also catch the free shuttle bus outside too. Probably better if you pre book them on the net before you go try http://www.spicejet.com/#

The best place for you to book is online. I would recommend that you look closely at Indian Airlines as they give you 30 kgs weight and have early morning flights as well. I would not wait to get to Bombay to get tickets.

Here is the complete list of everyone who is flying to Goa.

Are there two airports in Mumbai...one for internal and the other for international only.... :hmmm

It is the same airport but the domestic terminal is at the other side and you have to catch a shuttle bus to get round to it, not much of a problem.
