We weren't too sure what to expect with the Blue Bay as we'd heard good and bad reports. However, we shouldn't have worried.

The hotel itself is sprawling with numerous apartments away from the main building in well maintained grounds.

We arrived around 3am as our flight was delayed, and the porter insists on taking your cases from you to deliver to your room later. We thought this was a nice touch until we ended up waiting over an hour for our cases to be brought! Would have been ok had it not been in the middle of the night, when all we wanted to do was go to bed! We eventually got to bed around 4.30 am, and consequently missed the welcome meeting on the following morning. To be honest, this didn't matter as the Reps are always available for any questions you have.

Our first impressions of the hotel in the daylight were great. Everything is so well maintained and the staff are very friendly.

Sunbeds with an umbrella are a bit hard to come by, as people tend to leave their towels on them to save them, which is a tip if you do want a bed. We weren't that bothered however because there is loads of seating around the bar area with tables, which suited us better.

The booze served is fine - Lowenbrau lager and various local spirits. Loads of soft drinks and water freely available - no complaints there at all.

We seemed to do nothing but eat all holiday! Food was fine - it ranged from local dishes to good old chicken nuggets and chips for the kids. My husband is quite a fussy eater, but there was always something that he liked. Breakfast was either continental or full English in buffet style, and then snacks by the pool - burgers, hot dogs, pizza and ice cream. At 12.30 they open up the large buffet area by the pool for lunch. Then at 6.30 it's up to the restaurant for dinner. See what I mean about loads of food!! If you go AI, you certainly won't go hungry!

There is a shop on site that sells all your things like milk and tea bags etc, plus souvenirs at good prices. They also sell cigarettes so you don't have to wait until the airport to get your duty free. Daily newspapers arrive about 11 am, and they are the current day's edition, which is a bonus.

The Reps are super. My little boy developed a major crush on one of the entertainment Reps called Sarah. On the last night she got him up on stage for the final dance of the mini-disco - he was smiling for hours!

The actual entertainment was good. There's a mini-disco for the kids from 8-9, then bingo and 'key to the box' till 10. After that there's a variety of cabaret or dancing or competitions until 11 pm.

I've heard about complaints about the mossies - we weren't affected, but if you are it'll be in the evening while you're watching the entertainment. Some people had bought citronella candles from the shop to put on their table, which kept them at bay. I certainly wouldn't say they were any worse than other places we'd been too though.

Another thing to consider is the Swim Kids group for teaching kids to swim. Our little boy had no confidence in the water at all, so we booked him 3 private lessons with Joni, the lovely instructor. She was excellent in making it fun and by the end of the holiday, our little boy was hardly scared of the water at all. A great touch was a certificate presentation at the mini-disco for the kids that had taken part in he swim kids - he thought that was fantastic.

Our flight back was a bit of a nightmare. It was delayed nearly 3 hours which doesn't sound too bad, but it meant it didn't take off until 3.15 am. We're still trying to catch up our sleep now! Also, if you're travel sick, you must take a tablet before the transfer to the airport.

The roads and drivers are mad. I'm not normally travel sick, but I was green by the time we got to the airport!

All in all, a fantastic holiday!

Our first visit to BBE. Arrived in the middle of the night by taxi as we wanted to avoid a long transfer time by coach. Brilliant way to do it. Suitcases were taken to our room while we checked in and enjoyed the stroll through the James Bond themed gardens.

The apartment was fantastic - one twin bedroom and a lounge/kitchen area which converted into a second bedroom. We requested a sea view and that is exactly what we got. Right by the sea with a totally unobstructed view.

Everything was cleaned every day - spotless! Even the pool tables were hoovered! Mind you, if people controlled their children this would not be necessary!!!!

Food catered for everyone but the main restaurant doesn't open at lunchtime so you have to queue at the poolside terrace. The location for us was perfect - in the middle of nowhere. If you want Blackpool this isn't the place to go.

The evening entertainment starts at 8pm with mini-disco for the kids. Good fun up to about 9 years old. Followed by bingo until 10pm (one game) which drags on. At 10pm the reps provide half an hour/one hour of entertainment.

Competitions/singing and Greek dancing on one night per week. During the day you are invited to join in with volley ball, football, water-polo, killer darts, killer pool and table tennis. Soccer school and swimming lessons were also popular, although at extra cost.

We stayed and the BBE from 16th to 30th May. The transfere from airport took around 1 hour 30 mins. First impressions were really good, impressive reception area and helpful staff took our bags to the room. Rooms are spacious with patio doors leading to a good sized balcony from the lounge and bedroom. We requested an apartment with a sea view and got exactly that. The views were breathtaking!

The food in the hotel was OK, They had chicken nuggets and sausage rolls etc for the kids but the adults menu was not very good in my opinion as I tend to eat vegetarian there was not much choice but all other people in our party seemed to enjoy it.

The kids club is great it was difficult at first to get the kids to go but after a day or so they loved it, they went to Bugs Bunnies Birthday Party. I do recommend you use the kids club as it get very hot during the day and its handy to get the children out of the sun for a while and gives you a couple of hours to get some sunbathing in!

Entertainment, well, this is the reason we will not be returning to the Blue Bay Escape. We were actually embaressed for them. It seemed like a lot of effort for them to be on stage, There was about 6 of them that took part in the evening entertainment (after the mini disco) and only 2 of them really belonged on stage. There was a night a female artist (with dark hair) sang on stage she is an excellent singer and the audience sang along and had a great time. There was also a member of the entertainment team called Lexia that was an excellend dancer and looked like she really enjoyed her job and was the only member of staff that interacted with the kids, if you see her during the day she will stop and say hello but all other entertainers were off like a shot when thier shift finished and this attitude definately showed while on stage. I have been on many holidays and I am sorry to say I have never seen such a badly organised setup and all other guests we spoke to seemed to have the same view which is a shame as the complex and all other aspects of BBE were excellent. There was another female artist (singer come dancer) the only thing I have to say is don't give up the day job, and my advice to First Choice would be actually make the entertainers take part in a audition before employing them.

Take a little extra cash for nights out of the resort and use the free bus service to Kassiopi its a ten minute bus ride (book at reception first) and the village is lovely, lots of little shops and bars, we found a cocktail bar which was wonderful like a little cave and the staff were great. and if you end up missing your return bus back (last bus as 10pm) you can ask the barstaff to call you a taxi and this costs 10 euros before midnight and 12 euros after that. We didnt discover Kassiopi until day 12 which was a shame as we would have spend every night there.
There is a Horse riding trip that was excellent 2 hours through Corfu along the beach and windy roads for 15 euros (we found out later that if you go the the little shop at the bottom of the road just outside the hotel its 14 euros) If you do go take some money for the photograph at the end, it cost us 12 euros for 4 its gets cheaper the more you buy.

My son took part in the swimming lessons and I am so glad he did. The teacher Joni is lovely. It cost 29 euros for 5 lessons but he could swim after just 4 I am so impressed I definately recommend this course. Joni if you are reading this thanks so much your a star*****

If you have booked to go the the BBE I am sure you will enjoy it and take advantage of the bad entertainment to go out there and make some new friends.

There was 8 of us in our party and 3 weeks before arriving asked for a sea view which is exactly what we got which was really nice the views are breathtaking and such a good photo oppertunity.

When we arrived at the airport we collected our luggage and was were met by a First Choice rep who pointed us in the dirrection of our bus that was taken us to our resort.

The Journey its self took us about 1 hour and 30 mins which didnt seem to long as we all fell asleep.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the hotel staff and they insited that they take our luggage to our rooms which I thought was a very nice touch.

The hotel its self is very nice and to us was very posh the cleanliness of this hotel is 5 * they are very clean on everything they do in this hotel which is very nice the maids came in every day to change beds and clean, it was like little fairies had been in during the day and tied your mess up which is really good.

The only complaint I have about this is the first day we got there me and my husband got in to bed they sheets felf damp so my husband rang reception to complain and they were going to move us to another room but my husband insisted they come and change them now as our kids were asleep and he was not awaking them at 2.30am.

So when they arrived to change the sheets he kept appologising for this and said it would never happen again which it didnt.

But the best bit was the next night on our way to dinner we saw a waiter walking down with a bottle of wine and two glasses and we were all joking and laughing saying some one must be staying in bed for dinner however it turned out when we arrived back from dinner he had been to our apartment and left it there for us with a note appologising for the night before which I thought was a nice touch and very nice of them.

The food was good and I enjoyed it as I like trying different foods they have themed nights with differnt foods each night however the kids menu was always fish fingers and chicken nuggets with the exception of little pies and sausage rolls .

The hotel location was not good as it was miles out the way of anything but they do proved a free bus service to arhcaravi and Kassopi but you do need to (BOOK ) the bus is only little so they only allocate a few seats a trip.

The shop on the resort is reasonably priced but if you walk to the bottom of the resort there is a discount supermarket there which everything is miles cheaperwhich we didnt discover till about 11 days of being there (SHAME) as tabs are 50 cence cheaper than anywhere on the island and the airport.

The hotel staff are very nice people and can't do enough to help you as we found out on day 10 of our holiday when our little girl fell and broke her wrist, they phoned the Doctor and told us they were very good people which they were, the manager even stayed there until we arrived back for the clinic to see how she was and got us a drink from the bar ever though the bar closed 1 hour before hand as we had not had a drink for 4 and 1/2 hours.

I advise any one not to book any excusions though your reps as they are a rip of and go down the hill at the bottom of the resort next to the supermarket to book thee as they are miles cheaper.

We book a horse riding trip of 2 hours through the olive groves and sandy beaches and winding Corfu roads which was really very good we paid 15 euros for this trip but if we had of booked though the shop at the bottom would have only cost us 14 euros but I advise you do take some money with you as they take a photo and these cost 4 euros each but the more you buy the less it costs as we bought 4 as they was 4 of us done it and it only cost 12 euros .

Well what can I say about the entertainment not much really but if you enjoy butlins then you may like it there was only two reps there that made it look proffesional which was a rep with dark hair and was an excellent singer and everyone always enjoyed her and also sang along with her and another rep which was Alexia was an excellent singer and dancer and was very good with the kids which both my children became attatched to and was very sad to say goodbye. So if you are reading this Alexia thank you you made ther holiday as you always had time to stop and talk to them not like the rest of them who couldnt wait to get home .

Would I visit this resort again, yes if they changed the entertainment no if they dont.

We travelled to the Blue Bay in May 2005 and had a great holiday. The transfer was an hour but went straight there so it did not seem that bad, your cases are taken straight to your room, which at 3am in the morning is a blessing. The rooms are basic but spacious and spotless, the whole complex spotless.

The food was good, the location was fine for us it is remote but it does tell you that in the brochure, it was peaceful the beach was not over crowded and if you do want to get out there are a couple of goods bars nearby.

If you are going on any trips book with Tanjas Travel just out of the bottom gate and left, she is really helpful and cheaper than booking through First Choice.

The only thing that could do with improving is the entertainment, although you can not fault them for effort, they are great at kids entertainment but the adult entertainment is very lacking could do with perhaps a couple of professional acts on during the week. But all in all it did not really matter, as long as the kids are entertained that's all that mattered to us.

Already booked to go back next year!!!! (Can not wait)

We loved it the only thing was the location with a 3 yr old 2 hours was a long time.

The food was fantastic only the breakfast was a little disappointing.

The staff were great my kids loved the kids reps particularly Lana and Linzie and Sam and the head rep Jon was fab.

The rooms whilst clean were cold in the evening the maids knocked you out of bed to clean your room in the morning

Just returned from this hotel and I have to say I was slightly disappointed. After reading the great reviews on here maybe my expectations were too high.

First the good points, the complex is the most beautiful and picturesque I have ever stayed in. The apartments were spacious and cleaned every day. We met some really great people who made our holiday!

Now the bad points... The food would have been ok if any of it was hot, but meal after meal of luke warm offerings really got on our nerves. The only thing they served hot were chicken nuggets!

Most of the staff were friendly enough, but my husband had a run-in with the lady on reception after we requested a high floor room and were told there were none, even though the hotel was only running at 1/3 capacity. My husband got very annoyed with her attitude, luckily the owner overheard and came over and sorted it out! He immediately apologised and gave us a key for a high floor room!

Last but by no means least. The mozzies! Aarggh! Everybody suffered from bites regardless of sprays etc. They are a nightmare at this hotel, and as if that wasn't enough, there are flies everywhere you go (and an army of wasps by the pool). Our room had about 30 flies in it when we arrived! So be advised take fly killer as well as mozzy spray!

The entertainment was ok but not our cup of tea as it is mainly geared to families with young children.

Overall we had a good time but we will not be going back.

As this was my first time abroad I throughly enjoyed the complex and the kids were more than over pleased with the pool. Apartments were basic but very clean.
Only down fall to the complex was that it was a bit out off the way and you would need to hire a car to enjoy the picturest island.
Spikey mikey and suppa shoreany were tops at the kids club.
Our son has many allerygs to various foods and nothing was too much for the resturant manger and his team as they cooked him special meals.
our only disappointment was the entertainment was limp, the girls tried hard, shame about the young blonde guy , this may well be as it was the end of season.
