Enjoyed your report. We were intending to go in May, but it's not looking so promising now.

What part of the Grand Canyon did you go to, and was it easy to get to? We plan to do that next trip too.

Glad you enjoyed you birthday in Vegas.

I just typed a great long reply and lost it! :bawl
Thanks for the trip report! I love reading them, but especially from a Brit's point of view.

As soon as I saw that you were facing Harrah's pool I thought, oh oh Carnaval Court. We have been to the IP twice and had a quiet room both times which is just as well as we can't manage to stay up much past 11pm with the early rises.

We have tried Denny's a couple of times in Orlando and enjoyed it, but have never tried it in Vegas even though it's close to the IP. I reckon by the time you buy breakfast, coffee and orange juice that you're just as well with a buffet.

We tried Cravings at Mirage for dinner and really enjoyed it so will be trying that again.

We are heading back to LV 5 weeks tomorrow, staying at the IP and the Aladdin. Got the IP for $49 weekdays, $69 weekend and the Aladdin for $79 for a fountain view room. We could have got it for $49, but decided to go for a fountain view room as it's our first time there. Counting the days and really can't wait! :hyper
We are toying with the idea of going back in November, but no real plans yet. We love Vegas even though we're not gamblers and only play the slots.

Thanks again for your TR, I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing!

thanks for reading ladies :D

Pebbles - we went to the South Rim as the North Rim is closed until May because of snow. It's very easy to get to, just head out of Vegas on the Boulder highway (93) and follow it over Hoover Dam and down to Kingman, then you pick up the I40 straight out to the Canyon. It would be a 5 hour drive one way if you stick to the speed limits ;)
There are some great views from the South Rim and the Rim trails are very nice and easy to walk if you don't want to actually go down into the Canyon. I would also advise a helicopter ride over the canyon because that really is the best view you can get!

Cheers,

Tony

Great trip report :D They always make me over excited to be going to Vegas!

I've come to the same conclusion about airplane seats getting smaller - or it maybe multiple Vegas eating trips that do it  I've never been to Denny's, we usually gorge ourselves to bursting point once a day at a buffet, and have a late night 'snack' on the $5.95 prime rib sandwiches at the Imperial Tearoom.

We're there the same time as you Luci, but only for 4 nights between San Francisco and New York. We'll be staying at Paris - got a really good deal through the players card - and seeing Tom Jones, can wait!!! We're off again in July for 8 nights 8) :D staying at Aladdin on the $49 a nighter. Like you we're not big gambler - although we can often sit at the penny slots until 5am, but never spend more than $20

I'm off to read your trip report again TeeCee and get Vegas-excitement again!

We also have tickets to see Tom Jones on 2 May. :hyper Got really good seats, right in the centre and four rows back. Not a huge fan or anything, but I bet he'll put on a good show. Only thing that's worrying me is that the show doesn't start till 8.30pm and with waking at 5am I hope I don't nod off.

We went to see Legends in Concert and I really couldn't keep my eyes open in the dark so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have as I was exhausted.

We are also planning to see Forever Plaid at the Gold Coast, Fab Four at the Aladdin and maybe Legends again at the IP and Purple Reign at the Monte Carlo. Would love to see Elton John, but he's never there when we are. Saw Celine Dion, Mystere, Mamma Mia and We Will Rock You last year. Didn't really enjoy Mystere despite all the hype, but just think that perhaps Cirque shows are not our thing. We've seen WWRY twice and would have seen it again if it hadn't closed down. We thought it was a fantastic show.

After today I'll be able to say that it's 4 weeks on Sunday and that makes it seem so much closer. We booked 15 weeks ahead so it's been a long time coming.

Hi TeeCee

Once you've fully recovered from your holiday  I'd be grateful if you'd post a hotel review HERE.

Many thanks.

Luci, I had to run and check my Tom seats - same seats as you but the night before! I can't wait - I got a Best of Tom CD off Ebay - playing it as I type  - so I'd know all the words  The neighbours will be relieved to have a break from me howling 'What's New Pussycat'!

We saw Purple Reign last time when it was at other casino (can't remember the name same side as Monte Carlo- grubby and old and being pulled down) it was good. We went to Le Reve last time at the Wynn - thought it was fantastic, but we loved Mystere. Gladys Knight is really good too. What did you think of Legends, when you were awake :D , we nearly went last time, but kept putting it off and ended up not going

Our Tom tickets are in Section 1, Row D, seats 29-30. Good idea to get a CD so you know all the words. :D I'm not a big enough fan to do that, but if the show's that good we might end up getting one after seeing it.

Purple Reign used to play at the now imploded Boardwalk. We thought about seeing them last time, but decided against it at the last minute. They only play at MC on a Wednesday.

Legends was pretty good really. Shania Twain was probably the worst, but the line up has been changed and she's no longer in it. There was an American country singer that we didn't recognise, but everyone else was singing along to, the Rolling Stones, Prince, Madonna and of course Elvis to finish.

The current line up is Jackie Wilson, Celine Dion, Prince, Blues Brothers, Whitney Houston and Elvis Presley. We got the tickets at the half-price ticket booth and would probably do that again.
