My sister is looking for a weekend away for her husband's 50th birthday in August. Neither of them travel well so it must be in this country and not too far to travel in the car (she lives in Essex)
Neither of them have any particular hobbies or sporting requirements so I was thinking of Oxford or Cambridge so they could do a bit of browsing, shopping etc.
It would have to be a 5 star hotel, possibly more country style with grounds than in the main High St and part of a chain.
Any recommendations anyone, please???????
winchester is nice - Shops, history and green space. ( been there last year and had a lovely weekend. Or Rye maybe if its for a day or 2 at the most - its quite near ( been there its very nice - but it wasnt for us - but many people love it there) . Or how about salisbury or canterbury. all weekend break places on my list
