Hi All
I am looking for some help/advice in arranging a holiday for my parents. They are going to stay for a few days with their friends in Johannesburg. After that they are looking to holiday at the beach/do a little sightseeing. I managed to find quite a good deal combining Johannesburg and Mauritius on an AI basis, but do not know enough about SA to see if it would be worth advising them to just stay somewhere like Durban or anywhere on the beach for the rest of their holiday. Can anyone give me advice on what would be the best, what is the cost of living like, or indeed anything!! My dad does not walk so good, likes a bit of entertainment on an evening, and my mam likes the pool/beach. What is there for them to do in this area? They are both pensioners. My thinking along the lines of Mauritius was because it was AI they would have virtually nothing else to pay, but it is not particularly that cheap, and would they be best spending more time in South Africa?
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Hi Madgex
I posted a query re-South Africa on here a few weeks ago and didn't get any responses. There don't seem to be any/many South Africa experts lurking on this site! Try posting your query tripadvisor.com - you'll probably get a better response...

I haven't been to South Africa but a friend is about to leave here next week to spend 6months there. She has previously lived in SA and is going to spend the majority of her time in Durban. She says it pretty much has everything nice restaurants, good beaches and shopping and she says you can hire a car to see surrounding areas or there are lots of tours that you can take.
My Grandfather lived for a while in Durban (though many years ago) and always talked about returning there, he thought it was lovely.
Hope this helps

Edit button not working so I can't add anything to previous post.
I believe the cost of living is cheaper in SA that the UK.
