hello
we are going to marmaris in 11 days all inclusive and we are taking enough money to last us for the first week .
but the second week we are going to use our debit card at the atm machines do all the atm's pay out the same rate and how can we find out what the rate is day to day while there.
is it the same as over here ,different places offer different rates ?
we are staying at kervansaray hotel not sure if you can get currency using my debit card there ,but they do the exchange .
nearest atm to kervansaray would be great if anyone knows .
thank you
debbi
Exchange rates aren't via the machines, they will be via your bank. When you withdraw local currency, that request is then sent to your bank in local currecy and the conversion done then, plus any additional charges. It's often cheaper to withdraw larger amounts than several smaller ones due to charges. One thing I would be wary of is make sure your bank know you are travelling. If your card doesn't work when you are in Turkey, you'll have a problem. Personally, I never rely on cards abroad as I've had too many issues with them, even after checking with banks, eg cards blocked or restrictions applied due to security measures. It's not just an odd occasion, i've had it happen several times and know loads that have had issues with cards abroad in the last few years due to increased security measures. I'm not saying don't use them, but have a back-up plan in case you have a problem.
