Nichola,First of all i should say that we have always found a mosquito plug in the room is enough to keep the little blighters away, but the odd stray one soon gets a whack with a towel or sandal!!
As for what the Beira Mar is really like..This is our opinion only and i am sure some others may not agree. We first stayed there in 1995 and again in 97,99,05,06,09,10 and will be there again in January,in all that time it has probably only seen a coat of paint perhaps twice(I could be wrong,of course)and the coridoors can seem a bit prison like,BUT..the rooms are cleaned daily, clean towels daily, sheets every other day and the room boys are always polite and very helpful.we always tip at the end of our stay, this also helps to keep them on their toes!!
Breakfast at the hotel is basic, but you can pay to have extras, and the restaurant in the evening serves very acceptable food and the waiters can be quite amusing. The hotel is in a great location for the beach and many good restaurants, and only a short cheap taxi ride from Calangute and Candolim. If you need to know anything else, just ask or pm. We are there 2nd to 23rd.

nichola,We probably did most of the tours in our first couple of visits, now if we go anywhere we do it by taxi, however i have heard and read on HT that a firm called Daytripper based in Goa (Candolim,I think)and run by an English couple are excellent. The trips run by the holiday reps may be OK but always a lot dearer than arranging your own.

I have also read about daytrippers and tried contacting them but they never reply, think we'll wait until we get there and see what's around
Getting a little too excited now hahaha, can't wait

We arrive at Beira Mar on Jan 1st so will probably see you there
I think Eddie at Daytrippers comes back to the UK for the monsoon, so maybe they are not back in Goa yet. We have done all our trips including the triangle, and everything was superb! People who met us at the different locations, the hotels we stayed in, really looked after us! Eddie's great and will help all he can! Enjoy your holiday! Sorry it's
I'm sure i read that EDDIE has retired someone else is running DAYTRIPPER now.
Hi just booked a trip through Day Trippers, the e-mail back to me was signed by Jane
not sure if its one of Eddie,s staff or someone new or maybe his wife

Eddie has indeed retired, but all the sraff, including Jane, who has been with Daytripper from the start, are the same, and Daytripper continues as before.

Hi All, Anyone just been to Beira Mar? Do they still have kettle in the rooms and fridge. Its 2 years since we stopped there and wondered if it was the same.
Arrived on Jan 1st left it on Jan 2nd. Complete disgrace. Worst hotel I have stayed in Goa by a mile. Ended up having to pay £200 to stay somewhere else
Would not want my worst enemy to stay there
