i booked my last 2 greek holidays through A1 Travel they use med hotels/low cost beds charter or budjet flights and can arange transfers, so far service has been good and prices excelent well worth a try....

I usually book accommodation and flights separately to Chania. This way you get what you choose rather than what someone else wants you to have. It's about the same on price but flights are cheaper the later you leave it. Not sure what impact the collapse of XL will have and I expect others to go too. I think Monarch are well-funded and also Thomson both of whom specialise in flight-only deals.
The good accommodation gets booked up early. Much depends on your flexibility about location.

I would recommend booking independantly...... despite some companies going bust this year! I prefer to book my own flights and accommodation. That way you get the holiday you want. I know some people have been hit with losing money on flights not covered with ABTA. My answer is book with your credit card then your costs are covered if the company goes bust !
