I looked at Golden Sands in Bur Dubai last time i booked DIY an that seems well recommended for clean, budget studios. I didn't book it in the end as we got a great room only rate at The Arabian Courtyard Bur Dubai Hotel.

i've used cranley.com quite a few times for hotel info and info on the local area.
otherwise a good old search on the internet and some time spent browsing around should do. There are plenty of Dubai sites out there now as it's such a popular place.
