Having your flight tickets delivered through the post appears to be a thing of the past. The airline that we use now issues flight tickets via email (e-ticket)
We are due to go on holiday in just over 2 weeks time but thought I should have received our e-tickets by now.
I telephoned the airline to find out when to expect them. They informed me that the e -tickets had been emailed to me last month.I explained that I had not yet received them.I asked if they could confirm my email address by reading it back to me.The email address was wrong as a result of a letter missing from my name.
Under normal circumstances when you send an email in which the email address is wrong,it would normally bounce back to the sender with a failed delivery report.
The system that this airline uses and maybe standard with most other airlines does not have this feature. They use some sort of ticketing system that doesn't register email sending failures.
So if you are waiting for your e-tickets and a bit concerned that they haven't arrived, it might be worth a quick phone call to your airline or travel agent just to ensure they have the correct email address. The email address only works if its 100% correct.
I always book my flights on line and at the end of the booking process it allows you to print off your e ticket .they then send you an email which is identical to the booking confirmation.I am sure that as long as you printed your booking confirmation this acts as your e ticket

Once they had corrected the email address,an email arrived within mins as you would expect.

I had a problem with an E Ticket as a PDF file attached to an email last year. The PDF file was corrupt and wouldn't open so I clicked the link in the email to report a problem. No reply to that so I spent an age in a phone queue to ask them to send it again. Nothing came. In the end I went through the switchboard and got someone from IT to sort it out. And having done that he then goes and tells me that I didn't really need it anyway as long as I had the booking number!!
One point to watch if you're expecting e-tickets as attachments - make sure you haven't got an email Spam filter that blocks attachments, especially if you're using the company e-mail!

I once received someone elses e-ticket. He was going to New York with Virgin Airlines for a week, he lived in Surrey, paid using airmiles. I had his home address too, so if I'd been of the kind I could have paid a visit and helped myself to the contents of his home.
