Oh Fiona please don't keep me in suspense , where are you off to????
just the two places this time- KL and Bali! I have a quote for the Shangri La but have asked them to cost Traders as I've been hearing how good it is.
Stayed at the Shangri La about 5 years ago Great hotel with big rooms but a disapointing pool and is situated between KLCC and Bukit Bintang with abuot a 10 minute walk to each (I always prefer to nbe near to one or the other so if it is raining (as it seems to 50% of the time between 4PM and 7PM)you still have options for dinner if you don't want to eat in the hotel)
regards.....john-doe.......
I have both of those already!!

The MO looks as if it is the top hotel in KL- just been looking at it too!
I'm not too bothered about the pool as I can't see us using it but I take your point re the location.
Traders is on KLCC as well...it looks like its been built on the waste area I used to walk across when I was on the way to my ColdFusion course. It must have great views of the twin towers.
we stayed at the pan pacific when we were there great hotel we were up graded to the pan pacific suite we could have had a butler free papers and every thing that went with it the dinning room is on the top floor with great views and a wonderful menu with fresh salmon, steak with all the rest that comes with a breckfast menu free afternoon cocktails and niddles. the main dinning room for the rest of the hotel is on the ground floor.
would stay there next time we are in kl. when are you going as we will be in bali 23rd may till the 7th june

The decision is made- Shangri La!
Anker- we don't go till August( I looked at Pan Pacific and decided it was to far out for us- but good for a stopover of a night)
The shangri la group run the traders hotel in singapore so would imgine its teh same in kl.
have stayed at Traders in Singapore. It is a lovely hotel but the room was tiny! We were only there one night but I would have gone demented tripping over things if we had been longer. ( The restaurant was fabulous though) Time will tell re the KL one but we have booked a higher grade of room.
We have stayed at the shangri-la in KL twice, its a really nice hotel. Ask for a room on high floor with view of of the twin towers[petronas], its a great sight . The hotel is just down the hill from the menara tower, where we had a really good meal in the revolving restaurant at the top,[along with excellant views over KL.] It is only a very short walk to the mtr ,and also an easy walk to the twin towers ,where there are lots of shops[ shoes are really really cheap!!].The park behind the towers is lovely, you can sit and have a meal at one of the many cafes, and watch the water fountain displays ,and the coloured lights of the towers. The hotel rooms are a really good size, and the breakfasts are first class.
Have a great time , i have just come back from Poland, and we are off to Thailand[Bangkok ,3rd time, and koh lanta,1st time] in 7 weeks. Getting very excited. I am also taking my daughter to Hongkong in sept with the cheap airline oasis, so i am doing very well with my travels this year.
have fun

Just been checking out Traders in KL...you can certainly get some good deals especially ones that include access to lounge with free cocktails and breakfast. Maybe another one to add my list of deirables...I can feel another training course coming on.
