Hi we are making our first trip to Goa in April to the nazri resort with my husband and 13 year old son.
any advice on places to visit, eat, places to buy cigarettes and maybe even places to avoid?
also what’s the best way to take travel currency?
dont walk on the beach at night
dont get into a taxi without agreeing a price and destination first
dont use your card and pin in shops with wifi terminals
Use local travel agents to book any excursions not the hotel or you uk agent much cheaper
spice plantation is a good day out
Plantain leaf in calangute is great turn left at the roundabout off baga road and its on your right couple of hundred yards
Jamies in Baga well worth several visits you wont eat better food and no its nothing to do with an oliver
Oriental situated below the mira hotel straight over the roundabout as above 200 yards on the right
same as above lazy days cafe further 200 yards on the left do a great full english
bit further afield but very good and on a par with jamies but make sure you visit the right one, this is opposite the sunset beach resort there are 2 with the same name in candolim steaks to die for surf and turf the best ever
Fishermans cove nice place to chill and eat sit upstairs
De candolim very similar to fishermans but a bit nicer
Mackie night market opposite the marinha dourada has a good show on maybe 5 mins by taxi from baga
Anjuna market on weds is great but haggle
Curlies next door to the market is good for a night out
Titos avoid its a dive
little italy avoid its crap
apart from that any of the beach shacks are quite good just venture down candolim way a bit and yo will avoid the majority of local tourists who can be rowdy
