Cant help on the Clarach Bay point but as far as the Aberystwyth bit goes a popular place to stay in that area is Borth. Further north than Aberystwyth but not by much.

Haven used to have a caravan park there but they've sold it on to another group. Not sure who but its called Brynowen.

Quiete place, just across the road from the beach ( in fact the town is just one long road that runs along the beach really :D ).

Plenty of places to visit - Aberystwyth, Devil's Bridge, Machynlleth (home of Owain Glyndwr's welsh parliament), Aberdovey., and the Centre for Alternative Technology which our kids loved. There is a small train station there if you didnt want to drive everywhere.

We've stayed there twice. My son was ill the first time and as a result we didnt get to half the places we wanted to visit so we went back another year :D

Hi marshy. We went to Newquay a few years ago now, and stopped in a lovely place called Hollywell Bay. Its about a 10 minute drive to Newquay itself. :) It was lovely. We used to go to a lovely pub (cant remember the name) but it had a thatched roof, and did lovely meals.
Hollywell Bay is right near a lovely beach, where the sea comes into rock pools etc. very safe for children. We loved it :D

thanks everyone!have found it most entertaining!holywell bay is a parkdean site i think!Anyway, have been to those links, sioux and sent off for a brochure! It's early days and still won't be making up my mind for a bit.I found a review of quay west on the internet which said the site was good but you had to drive variable distances to get to the attractions in west wales.mmmmm.
I know Newquay will be lovely, having seen some photos, especially if we get the weather.just know good weather isn't guaranteed in good old GB so keeping my options open!
much love to you all
marshyx :D

At Poppet theres car park, a small cafe a life boat place (I think) toilets etc.
