I know a lot of places have been recommended on other posts but they have become fragmented so I thought it would be good to bring them together and so easier to find.
Dinners:
Paparazzi. When the weathers good sit outside on the terrace overlooking the bay and enjoy the best meal in the best setting. It is well worth paying the little extra for a quality meal.
Paparazzi...Spinola bay, St.julians. This is a fantastic venue indoors or out. 10/10 I am a big eater and Paparazzi delivers quality and quantity with good service.Prices are as good as any especially when you take into account quantity.The deserts are a challenge not for the faint hearted! Give 'outrageous' a try.
Gave Ta Kolina along Tower Road a go this time, 2011. Brusetta was a meager portion and not very inventive, looked like the spread came from a jar to be honest. Went for the Bragioli as a main and was very disappointed at the quality. Very dry to the point my wife didn't eat hers and I nearly choked on it, no sauce just a ball of dry mince. Desert, well straight from the catering company, I thought we might get home made here so sorry guys I was disappointed for the £45.00. [This did include 4 drinks].
Giorgios.....Sliema. Good food good service.
Also worth a mention was Ranieri.....Valletta reasonable food reasonable price, very good service.
We did eat at Il Napelone ....[beneath the Plazza Regency hotel].Very very good meal but oh my very expensive..ouch! Still the same in 2011
We did try to get into T'Kris at Sliema but a very moody girl told us they weren't yet open and when we tried to ask if we could book she just said we're full with the most discourteous voice so I decided she could go out of business before I would darken her door again.....politeness costs nothing nor does being helpful and she wasn't. [ A great shame as they serve Bragioli and I was more than keen to sample their version]
Lunch/snacks/dinner:
Cafe Palazz.....Archbishop Street, Valletta. YOU HAVE TO GO HERE.[2011] Arancini to die for and the best pastries/cakes in a beautiful fronted premises.
Peppis.....Tower road Sliema. [opposite Plaza regency hotel] Good food good value good staff.This is an old favourite that doesn't fail.[2011]
Caras....Tower road Sliema. [Beneath Plaza Regency]. Very nice cakes and pastries
Primavera....Old theatre street,Valletta [The site of what used to be the perfection bakery]
An excellent selection and very good....nicely decorated too.Reasonably priced aswell.

A bit of a way out but worth a try is the place in Imgarr (i think thats what it's called!) the place with the 'egg church' Try the restaurant that has the underground tunnels in it. They do a good selection of Maltese food. It is always full of Maltese which is usually a good sign. Don't order the lamb chops unless you are very hungry as my hubby got 7
