Daughter going to Cyprus on Sunday, can she take the dvd player in hand luggage and play it on the plane, or does it have to be in her suitcase, thanks.

Unless things have changed since August 2006, yes she can take it in her hand luggage and watch it on the plane. We did this Aug 2006 travelling to and from Crete after the new restrictions.
