I had exactly the same problem with SpiceJet and there times suited me best with my connecting flight.

In the end my friend in Goa paid for it locally.

Spicejet told me if someone in India couldn't book for me, the only non-Indian credit card they accept is American Express. I applied for one which took a week and have just booked with Spicejet online.

Perhaps it would be an idea to send this article to the Indian High Commissioner in London. Seems there may be a lot of empty flights from the UK unless they sort out the visa situation.

thanks for the link Tony, i have just filled out the form, and needless to say nearly all my answers were 'below my expectations'.
