New supermarket opened in Calangute for anyone interested. It's called Valanka and is situated on the Main Calangute/Candolim Road close to The Sportsmans Pub (opposite side of road). Very well organised and no inflated prices (that I can see anyway). They sell all the usual stuff but also have a fresh veg section and a butchers......really good for those that live here as you can buy everything in one store without having to drive too far.

Max Retail price is printed on almost everything that is made in India. The problem comes with imported stuff, ie no MRP on the pack. The shop owners are free to sell at what ever price they decide. Newtons sells lots of stuff like this, the biggest rip off i've noticed is with imported deodrants....RS120/- everywhere I shop but Newtons charge RS170/- for the same product!!

Valankas is on the right hand side past the church in the middle of the road (if you are coming from Candolim). Just past the massive new Black Orchid building and well before the Nizmar. You can't miss it, it's got sliding glass doors and really bright facias.
