Hi all
okay decided to goto cala d'or but where abouts is good part ?
ie, some mention cala egos others cala ferrera for villa rentals but i dont
have a clue.
any help guys appreciated.
cheers
og
It's been a while since I was in this area so I maybe a bit rusty. The Cala Egos region is a shortish walk into Cala D'or but it has it's own bars and restaurants in the area. If you want to be in the middle of it all then look for Cala D'or itself. Sorry don't know the Cala Ferrera area.
Ps Have found a map here:- http://www.aroundmallorca.com/cala-dor.php#map
Where you see the anchor - that's the marina. The roads to the left (across the water) is Cala Egos. Cala Ferrera can be seen at the top right of the map

Thanks for your answer, trying to get booked up and have narrowed down
to two villas
one is cal d'or side, the other is the marina side.
Does it take long to walk from the marina side round and upto cal d'or town ?
Any help appreciated as rearly confused as to which on to plump for !

Not far at all
There are restaurants around the Marina but the main square is more 'town'

Does your Villa have a view of the Marina? If so I'd go for that one unless the 'town' one has a sea view of course
no sea views that i know of.
one is with Solmar villas, the other with villaplus, never booked with either of them
so not sure on that score.
Just dont want to have to drag the kids miles in the evening etc etc
The Solmar one is located calle de galio, just off Av De La Cala LLonga on the marina side i think.
thats the one we are most likely to go with.
any advice appreciated peeps

I'd say, Av de la Cala Llonga is a good location, it;s cala d'or side of the marina, 5 minutes and you have half a dozen or so restaurants at the marina, 5 minutes the other direction and you are "in town" so best of both worlds. We have an apartment in Cala Egos and prefer the Marina and Cala Egos to Cala D'or centre though we pop in to eat sometimes. Cala Ferrera is the other side of Cala D'or and I'm not a big fan.
I can't work out how to post a link but if you go to google maps and search for cala d'or, Santanyi, Spain then zoom into the largest bay you'll find Av de la cala Llonga.
Any questions I'll try and answer! Enjoy your holiday.

Cala Ferrera is more touristy if you know what I mean, Cala D'or centre is nice - cobbled squares and lots of yummy restaurants. The marina and Cala Egos is much more sedate and upmarket. Just depends what type of holiday you are after really. We love it there!
