All info here:
http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/
In a nutshell:
£30.00 for a tourist visa
£9.24 VFS admin fee
£2.00 Consular charge
Plus the cost of sending by RM Special Delivery
Plus the cost of return - either by RMSDE or their own courier
Most people have been given 6 month visas but a few people have been given only 3 month visas.
Some people have been given multiple entry visas, some have been given only single entry ones.

and incredibly some have been given one year ones!!! after requesting 6 mths
Indded, chilly - it's a mystery (as Toyah sang) how they decide who gets what.
The most bizzare report I read this season was a couple who were given 3 month single entry visas but their 18 month old son had a 6 month multiple entry visa!

Has anyone been given a reason for why they were issued with a 3 month visa? I ask because we are returning to Goa in December and in the past have applied for it in September. If they give us a 3 month visa, then it would have run out by the time we go on holiday.
I don't think VFS or HCI give any reason out.
As chilly & I have both said, it seems to be a bit random how they decide who gets what.
Another thing to take into consideration is that there have been (as yet unsubstantiated) rumours about a 3 month visa being the standard.
I'd wait nearer the time and see if there are any changes to visas and time your application to ensure that, even if you did get a 3 month visa, it would cover your travel dates.

We were give 3 month visas but over the past 10 years have always received 6 months, no reason given.
Got ours last week.
1 Year Visas.
Paid the £50+ for the chance and got it.
It might be down to the fact that we had a Indian contact and a place to stay rather than a hotel.
Or it might be that Birmingham was very quiet so they flipped a coin
Cheers
Steve
Ps Yep it's Jayne's hubby
Thought I would have a look whats happening as we will be there soon
Love to ALL

Hi,
I have a quick question re visas & apologies if this has been asked before. I completed a 'mock' application so I know what to expect, but as my parents & in-laws are retired, would I just put NA in the section where it asks for the name & address of your employer?
Thanks for any help

If you fill in their "job" as Retired, then NA will do for the rest.
Thanks KatieP

I have a friend who is having problems contacting the Consulate in Dublin.
Do we have anybody on here in Dublin that can assist?
Urgent contact numbers required.
Clock is ticking and waiting for visa's

Re visas applications at the moment.
I know 4 people who have recently applied for 12 month visas and all have been granted within a few days.
The beauty of this is that they know they have the visa and can book flights without the worry of not getting their visa in time and it does not start until the day of arrival in India - lasts for 180 days or whatever is required then leave for 2 months and then able to go back if they want until the visa runs out. (12 months from issue date)

2x2 Photographs
I have seen on the visa website that 2 x 2 (50cm x 50cm) photographs are now required, does anyone know where to get them done?
I dont want to print my own as its to much of a rave (for me) I just want the simple and easy option.

You can have your photographs taken in Jessops or Snappy Snapz, but I don't know if all branches of both offer the 2" x 2" photographs.
