Just back from a really great 5 days in Havana! Booked through Voyager Cuba from our base overseas so they took care of everything for us and kept us informed the whole way through with regular emails. They gave us some great advice about the Paladares or private restaurants and we managed to book one before even leaving home to make sure we would not be disappointed! Airport was interesting :-) our rep was waiting and had a car for us. Their agent was at the hotel to meet us and sat with us on the first day to suggest what else we might like to do on our stay. Nothing pushy just some great ideas - we went to an evening show of the Bueno Vista Social Club which was fantastic and we hired one of the old cars as a taxi to take us round some of the suburbs further out. After talking to Voyager we flew Virgin Upper Class for first time and it was really great way to start the holiday. Stayed at the Hotel Saratoga right on the main square. Hotel turned out to be perfect - we had a lovely clean room, with simple but sympathetic furniture and nice bathroom, original tile floors were lovely and cool and big windows looking out at a school across the road. It was nice in the afternoon to sit and watch the kids. Best bit though was the swimming pool up on the roof. Really nice after a hot day of sightseeing to head up to the pool for a swim and a mojito before heading out to catch the evening entertainment. The views too were fantastic from up there - a little oasis above the hustle and noise of the city. We'd really recommend Havana and Voyager Cuba - it was a great trip and completely different from anything we have done before - sort of like the Jurassic Park of architecture. Loved it!
