All Scotland flights cancelled. Interesting to see if he gets passengers back.

Fiona, I couldn't believe it when this popped up on my FB newsfeed. I haven't used Ryanair for years because of their appalling treatment of disabled passengers, including a very bad experience with my Mum, but these latest shenanigans certainly won't be tempting me back any day soon!

I am not sure how many folks from Scotland will be tempted back.

So a week ago they have a sale with a 1,000,000 cheap seats and now cancel domestic routes from Glasgow , Edinburgh and Belfast , no doubt great news for customers who might have booked to visit friends and relatives over the Xmas and new year periods .

Great comfort for those affected to know its " sensible " planning !!!

Not for this group from Belfast

Always getting better !! :banghead::duh

I was reading an article today in El Mundo newspaper, where a pilot who has gone to Norwegian Air and taken 70 Spanish pilots with him. He has used the fictious name of Carlos because he trusts no-one and to protect his professional career, because it is forbidden to speak to the press because of strict confidentiality clauses, and if identified by his previous company, he could be sued, having sworn in a contract that he would not reveal internal company information or damage its reputation.

He also said that 40 more pilots are in the process with NA and will be leaving in the coming weeks.

I would never fly with RA, I absolutely detest O'leary and I'm not about to change my opinion anytime soon, because he's spent years treating his customers badly and now (at last) he's been exposed treating his employees with equal contempt.

I was banging on in this forum years ago about RA's business model, which is based on extortion and blackmail. I also mentioned about Spanish workers losing their right to state benefits, health care and state pensions in Spain ... This is something Carlos explains in detail in the article and the tax sc%m.

I've seen plenty of comments praising O'leary for the low fares, doesn't anybody ask how he can offer these stupidly low prices? I've not seen one article in the British press questioning his business model or the amount of subsidies he is receiving from the tax payers of the countries involved. Some other airlines receive subsidies, but nothing like the amount RA receive and if O'leary had to negotiate with all of Spain instead of the individual local ayuntamiento in the various provinces, these subsides would stop and RA would be in the red.

Really worth reading if you get it translated.

And another article (in English) from when O'leary was having a spat over the use of airbridges in Alicante airport.

Saw this shocking report from Ryanair cabin crew where they claim that despite working a 10 hour day on duty they only get paid for 5 hours .

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/comment/ryanair-flight-attendant-union-secrets-reveals/

Ryanair has always received criticism about the way it operates but market analysts have always pointed out that it achieves getting people from A to B punctually , with cost efficient operation and safely .
Well the punctuality has gone as it only can maintain this by cancelling flights , it's cost efficiency only exists because it screws its staff and they are not willing to put up with it anymore and it's labour costs will have to rise eventually , so it's only it's safety record that can't be criticised at the moment .
I really think that customers and the markets will start to lose confidence in Ryanair as it is going from crisis to crisis .

The Civil Aviation Authority had now waded in and is threatening Ryanair with enforcement action because it says that it has been acting outwith the law in the way it has been dealing with this situation and in particualr what it has been telling customers they are entitled to.

At the last minute to the 5pm deadline issued by the CAA , Ryanair capitulated to offer its customers what they are legally obliged to do by EU law in relation to cancelled flights , although affecting 1% of their customers ( it's important to state this as Ryanair manage to shoehorn this fact in every press release ) it's positive to see consumers being protected .

Here's a link with the facts of what Ryanair will do for those affected customers

The the publicity seeking MoL has not been seen the last 2 days and is not giving any interviews , no doubt he's lying down in a dark room with a head that hurts .

Thank for that Andy 👍

Thank God we have the CAA....I haven't heard anything from the Irish Aviation Authority who have been hiding in the shadows and seemingly unwilling to upset O'leary.... It makes you wonder if the IAA is in his back pocket?
There's no wonder O'leary loves the EU so much because they've done bugger all in enforcing their own directives.
