Ronnie, sure they do their own brand of brandy cheap but i too drink vodka and their own brand not expensive. Have a good time
I always drink the Turkish brandy when out there, always much cheaper than having a well known brand. First one always seems a tad rough but after that it slips down with great ease.
Merhaba vaturn The turkish vodka is also quite palatable and reasonably priced . we are going back to Hisaronu on September 22 . May I suggest a good restaurant ? It's called MERCAN RESTAURANT , it's up beyond the market place just after you turn right at the roundabout as if heading for OLU and its 40 meters on right hand side . Tell them Ian from Scotland sent you and you will be assured of a warm welcome .

Thanks so much all of you, I don't mind cheap vodka as I always have more tonic than vodka anyway, I may have a try of the Raki as I quite like Pernod. It's just a pity we dont like beer because reading on this site Effes seems so popular, just a thought, maybe I could have a pint and it would last me all night, now that would be cheap!!!!
We will make a point of trying the Mercan, any other places you would recommend John???

Hi ronnie
There are many good restaurants in Hisaronu and many bad ones also . You may perhaps try THE WHITE MAN (not very p.c.) it is on the left , quite well down the mainstreet where the road takes a big r/h bend . it is owned by a wee guy called KEMAL ,also the BISTRO restaurant is good ,it is on left a few hundred meters up the OVACEK road .
Enjoy your hol . We are going on 22 sept for two weeks . wee-john

Gin is also good and their brand is fine! We always have the wine - first glass can be a bit strong but once you get the taste its fine.
They mix the Raki with water sometimes - but it will knock ya socks off - hic hic!

I always make sure i have no more than two shots of raki a night now i am back home with my bottles as the ceiling would start to spin around when starting on the efes.Enjoy your time there in my second home.
The Olive Tree, is a great place to eat, hope it is still there, at the very top of the rd, always full.
Would recommend the Festival,Robin Hood,Olive Tree,Dominos and the Piano restaurant.
Never had a bad meal in Hisaronu - admittedly some better than others but on the whole an excellent choice.
Also try the Secret Garden in Olu Deniz, the Wine house and Cin Bal at Kayakoy and the fish market at Fethiye.

Thanks for all of your recommendations.
We are staying at the Asena Village Hotel and were tempted to book half board as it has got good reports about the food, but we really enjoy eating out and Hisaronu sounds as if it has such a wide choice of restaurants to choose from we will be spoilt for choice so your tips will be very helpful.
Only 5 more days to go and getting very excited, and maybe a little worried as we are flying with Onur Airlines for the first time and some of the reviews on this are not too promising. I mean with the new regulations as to what you can take on board I was worried about flying for 4 hours without a book as I believe they do'nt have t.v or radio and it can get very boring and if they dont serve alcohol it will be even worse, not that I am an alcoholic, but as I mentioned I do like the odd Vodka and Tonic!!!
I believe you can take books on board now so that will help to pass the time.
Heres to Happy Holidays
Thanks once again Turkey lovers.
