Excuse me if this has been posted before, but can anybody give me a rough idea of how much spending money I'll need for Kos? Me and my wife are going in September for two weeks, sc to Kefalos. I've got money put aside for trips to Rhodes, volcano island (forgot the name), and possibly Bodrum. Apart from maybe breakfast we'll be eating out every day.
We both like a drink (to be sociable of course) and we'll also be visiting other areas on Kos. Does £1000 seem about right? I don't think we'll be hiring a car, probably use the local buses and taxis. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks, Rick
We normally budget about £80-£90 per day, so bearing in mind you have already budgeted for some things I would say that is fairly reasonable (depends on how much you like to drink I suppose :D)
Don't know about prices in Kefalos, but Kardemena just up the the road we normally pay 2.5-3.00 euros for beer, about the same for Ouzo (but with the size of the shots SWMBO can usually get them to last a while ).
Breakfast is usually about 4-5 Euros each, lunch about the same and dinner (2 Starters, 2 Main and 2 Deserts) with a bottle of house wine usually about 40 Euros.

Sounds more than enough to me. Are you dead set against hiring a car? We got one very cheaply when we were there, about 130 euros for a week, no excess, which allowed us to get to some up the quieter beaches, up the mountains, etc, where it would be difficult to get to with public transport. They even did some deals which included car hire plus a couple of trips. The roads were fine and not too busy.
We generally paid around 30 euros for 2 courses plus drinks for the 2 of us - it is possible to eat pretty cheaply in Kefalos and there is lots of choice.

Thanks for your replies. We'll probably take around £1300 just to be on the safe side. No point in being mean with the cash.

I don't think you will need as much as that.
We drink lots
and usually spend about £600 - £800
(I also smoke)
Book your trips on credit card if your worried about running out.
Also they have ATM's now.
Also don't book your trips through your tour rep they are about double the price...

Would re-iterate what Status says there, we are off, yet again
, to Kefalos in September and usually budget around £50 a day, and don't always spend anything like that, we book our scooter hire for the two weeks and pay that by credit card, other than that everything is cash and we, like S love a bevvie
Which studios are you staying at?
Sure you will love Kefalos, there seems to be lots of people going out in September this year going by another Kos website which has a pile of folks all going out to Kefalos in September
Status and myself being two, she flies home the day we arrive - think she is trying to tell me something there
If you want any more indepth info give me a PM and I will help where I can - know the resort very well
Heather
Enjoy

I didn't realise there were trips to Rhodes from Kos, does anyone have any info? I would have thought it was too far for a day trip?
Thanks
Thanks
Any info on Turkey trips would be appreciated
Sandbee
You catch the boat over to Turkey from Kos Town, book direct with tour offices though and not the reps - rip off.
Boat then takes you over to Bodrum for a good ol shop. Cigs are really cheap over there and loads of fake designer gear too. You will need your passport.
Cannot remember how much it cost as we did it a few years back
