If you're travelling outside the high season (mid Jul to end Aug) consider the possibility of DIY. BA flights to Athens (3 a day) are very cheap when booked well ahead (£70 a leg at less popular times), buses are excellent, and there are many hotels in Navplio for €35 to €70 a night for a room.
For more details about travel and Navplio, have a look at my site http://www.jimbaerselman.f2s.com/ - it's non-commercial.

It's an easy 45 min drive to Nafplion from P. Astros. Be very wary of a horrendous road junction inNafplion where all roads seem to cross. Anyone's guess as to who has right of way!!!!

We spent a couple of days here in July, dont miss this place!! The waterfront is lined with ultra modern clubs and bars and its very stylish. Just behind all this is ancient Greece with an impressive town square, narrow streets and traditional tavernas, the contrast is unique in our experience. On a Friday night the town is heaving and despite large parking areas along the front ,by midnight its about full. The town is overlooked by a huge fort which is illuminated at night, we loved this place.
