Just to check that you know, as I wasn't sure from your original post, most of the Pyramids (the most "famous" ones) are near Cairo, about 700km (400-450 miles) away from Luxor, so an excursion to see them usually involves an overnight trip either by coach or by train (roughly 9 hours from Luxor to Cairo I think?? :hmmm )

Thanks for the the above info, I didnt know about the pyramids so thankyou for that its very helpful.

We dont really know much about Egypt at all, my daughter and I want to go and obviously see the sights but hubby isnt really interested in this sort of thing he's more into World war II etc etc, so it will just be a relaxing holiday for him. He has even suggested we stay in Sharm and us two can fly up to Luxor to see what we want, so looks like I will have my own war going on at home.

Thanks Again

Just a thought, but if your husband's interested in WWII history, there are various companies who run trips to WWII-associated sites in Egypt - for example, El-Alamein and the war cemeteries/museum/memorial there; Cairo also has the National Military Museum. The websites below might give you some ideas:

Alternatively, a lot of companies offering holidays in Egypt have optional excursions to places like El-Alamein, or offer multi-centre packages such as 7 nights in Luxor, 4 nights in Cairo (etc etc, many combinations!), where you can build in optional excursions to pyramids, El-Al etc, or would even tailor-make a complete holiday package for you. Try:

Don't give up on the idea, I'm sure there's a way of compromising so that everyone's happy! :D

Good idea - stay in Sharm. Send him off to learn how to dive then he can visit the Thistlegorm.

Needs a bit of divnig experience first though - so you may need a few trips to see allthe sights.
