I have not stayed in the area but have eaten there many times, the most central ones are ok but they can be a bit pushy trying to get you in there (smashing plates on the floor etc) but the best ones are a little away, just have a wonder! Like all these things the best ones will be the ones with the menu all in french, not in four languages.....!

I found the Latin Quarter completely by mistake, my then partner and i left the Eiffel Tower and walked down the River Seine, getting totally lost for about 2 hours. Then we found this buzzing carnival lively atmosphere... with lots of people, tiiny winding cobbled streets, different shops to browse through with windows filled to the brim with produce. I know that it surrounds the University of Paris and that it is near the River. I do remember the name of the Restaurant we finally settled down in - Le Reconfort - French traditional food bohemian vibe, very nice indeed...
