Loopy, we booked through the reps, whatever you pay, you wont regret it.
Dont know how far really, we just enjoyed the banter on the coach with others that we had made friends with on an earlier Caves of Drac trip...that was another cracking time.

Dont forget to walk along to Little Beach, I think you'll end up there most days and just past it is the marina where you can walk around and ogle the rich dining on the back of their yachts

yer might see my missus and I in there this summer when we win the lottery.

With the children in mind I would think Alcudia is a better choice for you.

Well nobody's going to agree on a resort, you are spoilt for choice in Mallorca!

But I would agree with fatty's recommendation (Puerto Azul, which is Thomson Superfamily, and you have an apartment with separate bedroom and kitchen area and fridge to hire, (but still half board)rather than all cramming into one hotel room. The hotel is geared up for kids and the staff and reps are all friendly).
There have been previous discussions on it ....
I was going to post a link but there is stuff on several threads, so if you do a "search" for Puerto Azul in the Majorca forum, you can plod through them all (if you want to!

Haven't been to Santa Ponsa so can't comment. Pueto Pollensa I think is a lovely resort. My 2 children loved it too, bus routes are cheap and convenient, lots of street entertainment. we were never bored, neither was it rowdy or rough. I would recomment the Pirates show, although at the other end of the island, it's worth paying out to go, the children will love it (we did too).

Quite agree - Puerto Pollensa & Puerto Azul - we stayed there 3 years in a row when our boys were younger & they would go back even now (aged 17 & 19 - perhaps a bit old!).
It's in a lovely position so everyone enjoys the holiday adults & kids ... & the resort is a perfect family resort. You can always wander down to Alcudia for more night life but PP is really not quiet. There are loads of bars, cafes & restaurants but just one disco.

We're off to Santa Ponsa on Tue 31st May - should be quite busy, think all the entertainment should have started (especially in The Square).
Dont know if it matters whether its school hols or not - people just seem to take their kids out of school regardless.
Where are you staying - we are at the Jardin del Mar.
Looking forward to sunny days and sangria filled nights!!!
Counting off the days!!!

i agree with the comment about the puerto azul and puerto pollensa, the azul will be great for your kids as it is enclosed and you can let them roam around, there are 3 pools one for ankle biters ,one for smallissh kids and then a big pool for the swimmers, the apartments are great but you still have half board and the food is fine if lacking in adventure. pp is beautiful with not many lively bars but they are there if you look and the front is pedestrianised so you and your kids can walk in safety. go you will love it, we were there last may so if you want any specific info on either the place or the hotel just ask

Santa Ponsa is lovely. Hope the weather's good for you. Recommend the Pirate show in Magalluf and a trip in the glass bottom boat. The square is good at night with tribute acts and the irish bars at the other end are great too.
Have a great time

On your way home one night stop for a kebab on the seafront, there is a stall there and they are lovely.
