Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi Darren,

Just to pick up on your post from yesterday:
That's correct, effective November 2011 from what I've been told. Three long haul A330-200's are leaving the fleet (G-OJMB, G-OJMC, G-TCXA) and the remaining aircraft (G-MLJL, G-OMYT, G-MDBD) will revert back to their high density, all economy configuration with 29" seat pitch with Recaro seats. Seat back IFE will be replaced by mainscreen monitors above the isles. I haven't updated the What Aircraft? guide as yet with the details as it doesn't come in to effect until the end of the summer season, but I will once I have confirmation.

Does the fact that the What Aircraft? guide has been updated signify that the news has been confirmed? TC seem to have removed practically all references to 33" seating and seatback IFE as being standard benefits from their websites and there seem to be many rumours that these will be a thing of the past next year, but seemingly they're still advising that it's business as usual. As you say, their right to change is covered by Ts & Cs but presumably at some point they'll have to come clean - any idea when and how?

Thanks in advance,

eskbanker,

The above is my current understanding of the situation.

Hi :wave I wonder if you can help. This question has probably been asked a million times but just a quick look hasnt given me any current/up-to-date hints ;)

We each have 15kg of luggage (45kg in all). Can I pool my allowances? Im sure when we went with Thos Cook a couple of years ago we did but I have 3 cases and want to spread the weight ie 20kg in one, 15kg in second and 10kg in third. From what i read (in 2009!) this isnt allowed. Any ideas or do I need to ring and hope that they call me back sometime in the next few days :que

Thank you.

You can pool luggage as long as you stay within your overall weight limit, and no one bag weighs more than 30kg.

Thanks Sunaddict. A silly question I know but just wanted to be sure. :tup

Darren,

Sorry to be a pain but did you pick up my question on A333 on Manchester/Montego Bay route on the previous page?

Thanks

BigJW,

I saw it, yes but I can't comment or check flight logs without flight numbers. I would assume the aircraft originally scheduled had a technical problem.

Just received our tickets for next month! Exciting!!
Now, why can't the seat map in the tickets match the online one?!!!!!!
Argh!
The A330....
The online version for selecting our seats finishes at row 43, with the 2-3-2 layout starting at row 37 with no row 36 in sight!
The tickets (354 seats) finishes row 44 with a lot more seats packed in between door 3 and 4!
Now shouldn't be a problem but as there's 5 of us, we've booked the last 3 of the 3-3-3 and the first 2 of the 2-3-2, hope this doesn't all now get messed up.
Looking at the ACARS logs its been the ex-MYT aircraft doing the route (LGW<>PUJ TCX216) so hopefully the seat plan in the tickets are wrong??!

rhodgreen,

The seat plans in the ticket booklet are seldom correct so ignore it. Only the ex-MYT A332's are operating long haul charters. The TCX A332's are operating short haul through the summer season, then leaving the fleet. All the details are on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Thanks Darren!
Dunno why they bother printing it in the booklet if they get it wrong so often!
I'm assuming the seat plans on your page for the ex-MYT A330s are the old higher density (pre 33") configs? (and what they're returning to)
Reply
rhodgreen,

There are several seat maps for the A332's linked. Follow the one for the ex-MYT (G-MLJL, G-OMYT, G-MDBD, also OY-VKF for the summer season) and it'll take you to TCX Scandinavia's website with their excellent 3D seat plan for the aircraft you're travelling on. This is the high density plan (29" seat pitch). The only difference is there are 2 rows missing from the centre cabin, and 2 from the rear with the remaining rows spread out giving more room. The other seat plan for G-OJMB/C / G-TCXA is accurate for the 33" seat pitch aircraft, but differs in that the toilets are in a different location, ie they aren't located downstairs. These aircraft are in the 354 seat configuration now for short haul rather than the one shown. Confusing, I know but they do like to keep changing them!

That's what I've been doing - takes you to http://dk.airshoppen.com/vaelg-plads-ombord.aspx?aircraftType=A332B#seating
Goes upto Row 46 - a lot more than the online one that I've selected my seat on!

Hello
I have just booked a flight and am intreged to find out my aircraft. I have booked the TCX2538 from MAN-antalya. I have read your previous post to THOM767 as that is the flight i am going on on the same day and time. however when i came to book the flight it and was choosing my seats it came up with 40 rows of 3-aisle-3. I may be wrong but it is my understanding that a 767 is 2-aisle-4-aisle-2. is it still a 767 but the tcx website is wrong or what. also for whichever plane i am going on what IFE is there. any help would be hugely appreciated.

thanks

james :) :)

Welcome onboard :tup
You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). I'm mobile at the moment so I don't have the aircraft information to hand. However, if you've already looked at the online seat plan for your flight, that suggests a Boeing 757-200. The airline knows the aircraft being used, they don't get it wrong!

EDIT: Flight logs are showing a Boeing 767-31K/ER for the TCX2538/9 so it must change for your flights.

runcornsue1,

TCX2882/2703 are operated by a Boeing 757-200 / Airbus A321-200 respectively. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).
