Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
I am due to fly to punta cana on 25/07, however i have noticed that recent flights have been heavily delayed or switched to a hi fly aircraft, is there any reason for this and is there anyway i can find out whether i will be on a thomas cook a330 or a hi fly? i have heard hi fly are not nice planes

Hello, the reason behind some Thomas cook airlines aircraft being replaced by HiFly aircraft is because of TCX Improving the Passenger experience. TCX Have had to lease aircraft from airlines such as HiFly and Avion Express to make this possible. I Cant justify if TCX Will operate a HiFly aircraft, It is all down to if they have an available Refurbished aircraft or Un-refurbished aircraft (Awaiting refurbishment). If one of these aircraft are unavailable, then TCX Will need to use a leased aircraft, this could be a lead to delay as the aircraft is not at that particular airport and will need to travel to the particular airport and will need to be refuled and catered before it takes off

Hope This Helps!

thanks for your reply, is there a way i can find out if i will be on a TCX aircraft or avion or Hifly prior to me flying

There isnt any way of telling if it will be a Thomas Cook Airlines aircraft or a HiFly aircraft. I Can guess that Avion express will not operate on this route, personally i think your flight will be operated by HiFly if the previous flights have been operated by them

Hi, I wondered if anybody can help us, we are due to fly to Punta Cana from Manchester 4 weeks yesterday and we are busy getting ourselves ready for the trip. Our youngest is 7 and has Downs Syndrome, he loves his I-Pad and we are hoping that this will keep him entertained for most of the journey but we are worried that it may run out of battery before we get there! I have read conflicting information as to whether the USB port on the IFE screens is usable and wondered if anybody could tell us the definitive answer. I hope it will be an A330 TC rather than the HiFly aircraft. Many thanks and soooo looking forward to it!!

Im sorry to say alexJK but you have been nominated for a Pulitzer prize

that post about hifly continued upgrade malarkey - its a total work of fiction....

they promise us fancy swanky new planes - pics everywhere and even book people in premium - and then draft in CS-TFZ from hifly with 3-3-3 poor interior.

I now notice they don't have their "supplemented with TC staff!" anymore....

If its a temp measure - why was it a TEMPORARY measure all summer of 2015 - all summer of 2016 - and I can go on and book seats on it for summer 2017!!!!

Clearly you are affiliated to Thomas Cook - please just tell the truth..... please - we would respect you more....

There is nothing unusual in airlines using aircraft from other airlines.

Avion Express will not be operating long haul. Your flight is scheduled on a TCX A330.. There's some stuff been posted you're best ignoring. Thomas Cook do not have any longhaul aircraft waiting refurbishment. Even if they were using a leased aircraft it would not lead to delays because it would scheduled and in the correct place to operate the flight.

Hello There,
When you go ahead and book your holiday, your airline/aircraft are subject to change at short notice. Sometimes it is nessesary to do this to keep flights operating on time. It does take time for Thomas Cook Airlines to refurbish the aircraft fleet, at the end of summer 2016, TCX Will have 4 A321'S Delivered to the airline. TCX are having to paint the new Livery on to the new aircraft/ aircraft in the existing fleet. They also need to refurb the aircraft, Please bear with TCX to complete these works on the fleet as at the end of the day, this will benifit passengers!, btw im not affiliated with tcx

None of that has got nothing to do with the flights that davies asked about. All the A330s have been refurbished.

They received 4 A321s earlier this year, and they're all operational. There are no more on order. All the A321s have been refurbished.

TC always lease aircraft from other airlines. It's got nothing to do with refurbishment. It's just to enable them to offer more routes/flights.

Looks as if Thomas cook are having issues with serving its Punta Cana service (MT386) leasing Hi Fly aircraft, now delaying for over 24 hours! Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what TC are doing to avoid any further issues?

HiFly have only operated that route once on 16th May as far as I know, and it had a short delay. TC do lease a HiFly aircraft for GLA-MCO and STN-GLA during the high summer season. It's not operating for them yet though. MT386 has had no long delays before today.

Hi

I'm due to fly Belfast to Arrecife on 21/7 with Thomas Cook. AFAIK I will be travelling on a A321 - 200. Can anyone confirm if normal standard single pin headphones will work with the IFE, or will I need to purchase the 2 pin adaptor/headphones etc.

Thanks

modoc,

You'll need a 2 pin adapter.

Hi Darren

As always thanks for your help, in this case in advance.

We are travelling on TCX2496/MT2496 on 29 June (next Wednesday, Manchester to Lanzarote. When we booked it was down to be a B767. However, on checking today they have changed our seats (separated us at either end of the cabin and no message from them - not unusual for Thomas Cook in my experience!!) and the plane looks now like an A330 - is this likely to be one of their own planes or the Air Tanker? Thanks again

PS - the return on 6 July is still down as a B767 - from your information is that so?

The seating plan is showing the 29th as an ex MYT A330 with a premium cabin.
