Hi,

I need to select seating (with Infant) on the below route but just wanted to confirm the aircraft type.

Please can you confirm the A/C type for the below route:-

TOM654 DSA - DLM
TOM499 DLM - DSA

Im expecting it to be the 737-800, however on the screen print (AirCenter) the TOM advisor sent over to me to choose my seats from the A/C type states with 2 different layouts of seat plan, (stil 3-3)

T0M654 is a 737-300
TOM499 is a 737-800

Obviously the 737-800 is the newer aircraft, although the seating layout of 3-3 (6-abreast) and 29"-30" seat pitches are the same throughout. The -300 however doesn't offer any inflight entertainment other than the hire of Sony PSPs for the flight. As for choosing where to sit with an infant, that's enitrely your own choice although the toilets at the back of both aircraft types will have baby changing tables.

It's a case of subbing the flight to a short haul configured aircraft and getting everyone away with as little delay as possible, and keeping as much to schedule to subsequant flights (minimising knock-on delays), or delaying the flight until the aircraft is repaired that could lead to the loss of a days holiday and schedult chaos to later flights. I know it's not an ideal situation to use a short haul aircraft, but which would you prefer; less seat pitch or a loss of a day of your holiday?

You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). Seating is persnal preference. All seats offer the same seat pitch and facilities on their respective aircraft so it's whatever you prefer. The exception is extra legroom seating.

Luggage labels aren't needed as bar codes are attached at check-in. It's up to you if you want to put your name on a seperate label.

I see that the delayed Puerto Plata flight TOM039 is due back this afternoon - 33+ hour delay :yikes

...and the knock on effect is that the Florida flight TOM070 isn't leaving until after 16:00 ! That'll be fun with young kids!!! :cry

Don't understand how the LGW - SFB flight is delayed as both long haul flights came in on time this morning!

Agreed re young kids - not fun!

MAN - Varadero flight also delayed +3 hours at the moment.

Time to go and see my travel agent re a switch of flights to VS!!

FCA/TOM aircraft going Tech is becoming rather common at the moment.

TOM, once they knew that the 787 was going to be delayed should have invested money in their fleet, rather than saving it. The lack of investment will come back and bite them in the backside with the amount of extra costs they having to spend such as Overnight Hotel Costs / Cancellation and Delay refunds / refunds re no PE cabin... the list goes on.

Booke my holiday 2 years ago, don't need this aggro with 5 weeks to go.

We are out in Sanford at the moment and seem to be a little unlucky with our flights. Last October we got caught up in the heavy landing at Bristol and ended up coming back economy. To be right and fair Thomson refunded our premium upgrade without any problems and without us even asking.

Today we see our flight home, TOM070 is not due to leave from Gatwick flight until 16:25 so looks like at least 6 hours delay before it evens leaves UK so as to ours TOM071?

Ah well the Palm Court lounge looks inviting.

Any information on why and maybe what Airframe is coming out?

i asked you about medica seat last week i chatted to thomson i asked for the seats you said i was told the frist 2 row can not be booked till i check in i am very worried i need row 1 i need to be near the loo and got to have my legs out i worried my stoma i will leak if thomson put me in 3 a and b i dont no what to do

desk jockey - remember plane that came in from Aruba was the relief aircraft - presumably returned to whence it came!! Sanford passengers will be on late returning aircraft from POP (TOM 039)
kaceyjones - your return flight was airborne ex LGW @ 16:38,just passing over Scilly isles as I type!!

It's that not simple and given the delays were in stages, not practical either. Aircraft go wrong from time to time, regardless of how much money you throw at them. Boeing has been working with airlines with compensation packages and has looked at replacing a couple of the 767's, but no joy. You don't know the nature of the technical delay, it may not be a maintenance problem. It is not a lack of investment in the fleet, millions are spent annually and these things happen. Even brand new aircraft have technical problems.

There are technical issues in the fleet at the moment causing delays to some flights. A short haul aircraft is being used to cover some flights, but being an aircraft down, it's inevitable there are going to be delays. G-OOAN (ex-FCA 76W) is back in the air though and is winging it's way to you, a little later than scheduled.

Brilliant, many thanks very much for the info. Been on that aircraft before I am sure, even going back to the Air 2000 days. I am tracking it via the Flight Aware site as well.

The Palm lounge is nice and comfortable while we wait for its arrival.

Hello, as a regular visitor(viewer) to the site I now have a question to ask!

We are in the process of booking TOM 642 from GLA - POP in August and am confused as to why there is no premium economy. Does this mean that we will be flying on one of the ex Thomsonfly 767's that's in an all economy configuration or god forbid have they already downgraded us to a 757? Also, does anyone know the previous flight for this aircraft before it positions up to GLA on the Friday?

GLA-POP-GLA (TOM642/3) are operated by an ex-Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER (283 seat / winglets, G-OBYD). This aircraft has a premium cabin. It's likely premium is fully booked by now, hence unavailable. It operates GLA-SFB-GLA (TOM796/7) the day before and BHX-MBJ-BHX (TOM374/5) on the Thursday.
