Hi Darren
My daughter and I are travelling premium class to Punta cana from Manchester on 31st January. (They have stopped flying from Birmingham for some reason) I am guessing this plane is likely to be an ex First choice, which is no problem as we flew on one last year. If it's a Thomson can you briefly tell me the difference please and which seats are best to go for.
Thanks so much
Sally
The cabin is much larger- takes up the whole front part of the plane. You get slightly less seat width due to the table being in the armrest and 1" less legroom. The cabin does have mood lighting and because of the proper bulkhead divider with the economy cabin it does tend to be calmer. The ratio of Crew to Passengers will be lower (more passengers to crew) so that does impact on service but this last part is only my opinion. From a crew perspective I prefer the ex-FC aircraft to work on they are a nicer layout.
is there a major difference between the First Choice 757's and the Thomson 757's we are flying from MAN to TFS on 27/12/11 (TOM2202) returning on 10/01/12 (TOM2203)
Do they have any facility to upgrade on these planes?
cheers
Other than the position of toilets and an odd seat, the 757 fleet have the same configuration. All seats are economy. The only upgrade option is extra legroom. The main difference is the seat design. The ex-FCA (green seats) have standard seats. The ex-TOM (blue seats) have slimline Recaro seats that give you a bit of extra knee-room.

Welcome onboard

If you click on our What Aircraft? guide (link below), you'll find extensive aircraft information including links to the aircraft with photos of the cabin to give you an idea of what to expect.

We were on a first choice, 767, flying premium cabin. It was fab, no squashed knees, the seat trays slide out more so you can balance your food tray on the table properly.
Food was really nice, going out we had a hot meal, with meal, then were offered baileys or brandy, I had baileys. Then more drinks rounds, then a nice touch we were given a tub of ice cream. Then an afternoon snack, of a sandwich and cheese n crackers about 2 hours before landing.
Cabin crew were really good, friendly and very attentive, even on the night flight.
I worked out that even though the premium seats were £150 return, I had 6 drinks, which average costs are £4.50 each, then i had a cappucino as well, that was about £2 according to the prices in the inflight magazine. The leg room was worth it. and you pay £50 or so short haul / medium for extra leg room seats, so i definitely think it was worth it.
coming home was ok considering it was a night flight, i had leg room until the lady in front of me reclined and boy do those seats recine, it didnt squash my knees but it was a pain trying to get up out of my seat with the one in front fully reclined. we asked her to lift it up a bit, but no, she had her feet resting up against the bulk head, and reclined the seat fully so was nearly vertical.
So of course, i had to touch her seat back to help me stand up.
Having done bucket class, horrid flights to turkey, longhaul premium is the way to go.
Puerto Plata staff when departing were very abrupt and unhelpful - but were dead cheerful when arriving at POP.
Really good view at the departure area though you could see the planes landing and takjing off and the little planes landing and the helicopter that seemed to fly a lot, we wondered whether it was a coastguard type, or pleasure fights.
i will do the hotel review as well.

As a first time visiter to Mexico Flying Thomson airways can someone advise which Terminal at Cancun Airport the Airiline flys into and out of.
Terminal 3, and normally gates 4 or 5. If you're on a package holiday, you won't need to worry about that.

We are flying 13 November from Gatwick to Cancun Tom 066/ tom 067 could you tell me which aircraft and the ife for this flight please. Also where are the aircraft coming from prior to our flights so I can check for any delays. Thanks
Welcome onboard

LGW-CUN-LGW (TOM066/7) are operated y a Boeing 767-300/ER. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) including a link to current IFE. I'll know where the aircraft comes in from next week.
Darren
Could you please tell me the aircraft size for Tom 4766 from LGW to ACE 20/11. Cheers.
Regards

Browndog,
Thanks again Darren.
Thanks Darren
Thank you for the reply Darren.
This may sound a daft question - but here goes! We have booked to fly from Manchester to Sal (Cape Verde) with Thomson next May (yes, I know it is a long time off) and I have read reviews that seem to say the planes used are 'small'! Can someone tell me what type it is likely to be, please! I am not the best flier in the world so may do the pre-booked seats.
Flying to Cancun on Sunday 6th November from Gatwick on TOM022 (departing CUN on TOM093 17/11) any ideas on the aircraft reg ?
Many thanks

There's no such thing as a daft question if you don't know the answer! Cape Verde flights are operated by Boeing 757-200. These aren't exactly jumbo jets, but at 113,400kg maximum take off weight, they aren't exactly small either. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).
Darren
We won't know the aircraft registration until the day before. Given all the aircraft have the same interior (apart from the position of the over wing exit on G-OOAN), it makes little difference.
Darren
Thanks Darren. I only wanted to know as we have booked premium seats and believe that we might be changed to an ex Thomson 767 with less premium economy seating and therefore be bumped to economy. Can I please ask you on Saturday ?
