What exactly are winglets ?

Winglets and their purpose are described in this post. Airbus are to introduce similar winglets for their Airbus A32x series aircraft called sharklets in the near future.

nutmeg1,

It's way too early to know the regitration assigned to a flight as they change regularly. We'll know the day before. If the online seating plan is now showing 2-4-2, then the flight is now operated by an ex-TOM aircraft, not an ex-FCA.

I have just booked a holiday which uses flight TOM7304/5 BHX/VRN on 25/05/11 returning 01/06/11. Does the flight reference 73.. have any reference to the aircraft i.e. 737? I note the Saturday equivalent flight (28/06) is 75..

wasginge,

Flight numbers have no bearing on the aircraft type, they are coded based on a different formula including airport and day of operation. BHX-VRN-BHX (TOM7304/5) is normally a Boeing 757-200.

Flying to Cancun from Manchester on 25th June - Flight TOM144 - Can anyone help me identify if this is an Ex First Choice Aircraft or a Thomson one, We have booked premium Seats. Was not sure if the schedule is out yet for late June.

On another note - Phone to reserve seats with Thomson yesterday as its 90 days before we fly , went through the prodedure and confirmed over the phone the seats numbers and rows, Then I phone back 30 mins later to ask a question and was told that I had not reserved seats and the seats I though I had reserved 30 mins earlier were free, So I reserved them again and this time received an E Mail with the details. - Just shows you need to follow things up. Not sure if this is a one off or normal for Thomson ?

Welcome onboards :tup
I'm mobile at the moment, but your flights should be operated by an ex-FCA Boeing 767-300/ER. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). I've never had a problem reserving seats like you mention, maybe it's just a one-off.

Hi Darren

I hope you are well, and had a good break.

We are planning on going to the Dom Rep this year, and I was just curious whether the 767's are the ex thomson or ex FC. Only reason I ask is arent the ex FC's smaller premiuim economy section but have the touch screen, so can get the person behind you constantly pushing your chair if they are playing the games?

Not that it makes much difference, in if we go or not, might just mean I try and get the last row of PE.

Cheers in advance.

SAEAGLE,

I had a great holiday thanks. Its a mix of ex-FCA and ex-TOM depending on the specific flight. It's the ex-TOM that have the smaller premium cabin (31 seats rather than 63) and the touch screen IFE.

Cheers Darren, not till December again so will wait till later to find out.

Have they started re-stocking the planes with the amenity kits or is this now something they are just not going to do anymore?
Reply
SAEAGLE,

Winter months are often the ex-TOM as it's a higher density route, hence more seats needed but it does vary. I've not heard if the amenity kits are back (not as far as I know), maybe BY-TOMM-AMM-FCA can update us on that.

We flew premium back from Cuba last week and didn't have an amenity pack.

flyboiuk,

I don't have the full S11 schedule as yet, bu it's likely to be a Boeing 737-800.
