Hi Darren,

Newbie here haha!.. Flying MAN-POP on the first summer scuedule flight in May, did the same route last September and got the TOM long haul 767 on way there and ex FC 767 on the return.. Pre booked seats for this year which indicated ex FC.. (2-3-2) but are these always concrete? Also do you think we are more prone to delay with it being the first day of summer scuedule? (6/5/11)

Cheers!

Aarons18,

Welcome onboard :tup
Once the seats are uploaded on to the system you can be assured of the aircraft. The only chance of it changing is if the assigned aircraft has a technical issue and it's substituted at short notice. In that case, it's a question of there's little choice, a hefty delay for your flight and subsequent ones of the change of aircraft. No flight is more prone to a delay than any other as they can happen for any number of reasons, many of which are out of the control of the airline.

laudan,

NCL should be having a Boeing 767-300/ER in the ex-FCA configuration.

hello all, just a few short comments re/ our flights to and from varadero cuba- we returned last wednesday.
the overwhelming thought is that premium just aint what it used to be, for £230 per person, it just did not seem a justified expense to us as it has been in the past. the quiter cabin is still a major plus, however there was no amenity pack (usually not used i know, but it's a perk you pay for which you don't receive) and even no bottle of water in the seat pocket. the meal is no longer served any different to standard cabin, and its very similar choices of chicken and beef. a couple asked for some pringles during the bar service and were charged for them, i know that snacks have never been included, but one tube of pringles...chargable...after paying over £200 each? the air filled seats on first choice planes popped years ago so they are not worth considering, and the inflight entertainment had it's moments in terms of picture and sound (my husband had 3 sets of headphones given to him over the course of the flight) crew were in the main fine, they are there to keep you safe, but a smile always helps, and i felt a bit guilty for asking for a drink to be honest... :( luggage both wayss came off more or less last, so they probably dont do priority premium luggage anymore either, and no priority boarding on the return flight, all small things, but all chargable and we did not get them. all in all it's made us decide that the near £500 expense simply is not worth it any more, it's a shame because our first premium flight 4 years ago was fabulous- china plates, food courses served seperatley, complimentary glossy magazines and newspapers, plentiful drinks service, really well trained enthusiastic crew and generally good value. however having taken 6 holidays now using premium, i must say that all flights are different, and so i am sure our experience is not regular or . anyway, we have had our fill of long haul for a while, and are going back to 2 weeks B&B in the grek islands for september,

Darren, don't suppose you can give me some flight info on TOM2456 from manchester on 22/9/11 to heraklion? we have booked extra legroom so i'd like to know how many seats will be available to select when the time comes, many thanks...and hope you had a great trip to punta cana :sun2

What still no amenity packs ? Surely they should have ordered these by now, or stop advertising they will be issued.

As for water, on my flight to Mexico in November there wasn't any bottles in the seat pocket but I asked for several bottles during my flight had had no problem getting them. I did tell myself I wasn't going to upgrade this year due to the cost and was going to book a standard cabin extra legroom seat, however since I have only booked a flight once the hold baggage and the extra legroom seat was added to the cost if the ticket, the difference was only about £100, so I booked the premium cabin.

However if there are still no amenity packs by September, I shall be annoyed. I don't mind paying for extras as long as those extras are provided.

emmacat,

MAN-HER-MAN (TOM2456/7) should be a Boeing 757-200. You'll find a seating plan linked from our What Aircraft? guide (link below) with extra legroom seating indicated. PUJ was great thanks :tup

I got back a week ago from Holguin, Cuba with Thomson's premium. No amenity packs, but a blanket and neck pillow on the seat both journey's. I thought the service was still worth the money, for the legroom alone. We had plentiful drinks services both ways and hubby has to drink lots of water (for health reasons) when flying and they were only too happy to fetch it, or he'd just go to the galley and ask. The food was not to my liking outbound, but hubby and friends both enjoyed theirs, and inbound it was surprisingly good!!

Hubby did have a headphone issue, but it was soon sorted. I enjoyed the IFE outbound, but was too tired to be bothered inbound, but my friend watched two good films. We had a newspaper both ways I think, and a pack with OK, Star and New inbound. Also had a water bottle in the seat inbound.
The premium crew going out were friendly and helpful and coming back the head steward? (or whatever they're called these days) really had a great sense of humour. He had everyone laughing before we'd even got in the air, as did the captain on one occasion. I can honestly say all the crew we had dealings with were helpful and cheerful enough. The seats are not the comfiest but we sit on our blankets and they were better.
Our friends luggage did come off last both ways, but she says it always does, irrespective of where they go or who they fly with!!

None of us would book a longhaul without the premium seats, and hubby certainly couldn't manage with 33" for 10 hrs. I know it is quite an added extra on top of the holiday cost, but we always factor it in when picking our holidays.

Hi again

I am flying on a thomson fight 757-200 and i will be reserving my seats soon.
Between rows 5-10 which row definitely has a window. i am not too familiar with thomsons aircraft.

Grahamy,

Rows 5-10 all have a window. It's row 11, at the rear of the forward cabin that doesn't.

Hi

I'm flying 22nd Sept 11 Manchester to Cancun (TOM104) in premium. Is it too soon to find out if the aircraft may be a Thomson or ex-FCA.

Thank you
Reply
Tubasop,

MAN-CUN-MAN (TOM104/5) should be operated by an ex-FCA Boeing 767-300/ER. I can double check for you closer to the time.

Darren, apologies if I have asked before, what aircraft will fly Newcastle to Cancun on 270511 and back 100611 ? Have booked premium seats and chosen seat numbers. Will it be ThomsonFly or FCA ?

Thanks

Hi Darren,

How do I find out how many seats are left on a particular flight without phoning the airline?

Thanks again,
Pat
Reply
pat,

In 2 words, you can't. Loads on a flight are commercially sensitive so that information is not in the public domain and even if you phoned the airline, they're unlikely to give out that sort of information. More details here.
