... and don't forget your sun cream, it's rather warm over their. Have a look at Chichen Itza and Tulum, both well worth a visit.

If it helps I am very large 21 stone & 6'2" tall and I fit into the FCA longhaul seats and suffer no discomfort, I do not think you will have any problem, I have been as far as Cosdta Rica and the West coast of Mexico which are both longer flights than to the Dom Rep, get the tickets and have a good holiday.

Hi again,
sorry to be a nuisance!! Do you get to choose where you sit when you get to the airport. We are going to use the day-before check in at Manchester. Will we be able to choose our seats, from what i remember last year we got shown the flight plan and picked our own :que

Thanks

pallan,

Seating is pre-allocated prior to check-in (24 hours before) so you won't be able to request seats at check-in. You can select them yourself online up to 60 days before departure or 90 days by phone. More details on Thomsons website.

Hi

Just read that B757 are operating the Birmingham - Sandford route due to tech reasons, I didn't think they covered long haul routes?? I'm flying from Manchester to Sanford in July and don't fancy sitting on a 757 for 9hours with limited space and no IFE, is this a common problem??

Cheers

Pretty sure thats no the case at the moment, there were a few changes last week but at the moment all flights are 767's again.

Benleigh,

It's just a one off due to aircraft being in for maintenance followed by one aircraft ingesting a large bird in to it's port side engine in Sanford (didn't need an engine replacement fortunately) and another with a hydaulic leak that diverted to Bermuda. Things should be back to normal well before your flights. 757's have only been used to cover flights on rare occasions (about 4 since the start of the year from memory) and it's either that or severe delays for passengers and likely losing days of their holidays. Once the fleet is back up to full stength, everything will be back to normal. In order to reduce some of the technical problems of late, G-PJLO and G-DBLA are being replacd by newer and hopefully more reliable aircraft if they can be sourced as part of a compensation deal with Boeing due to the late arrival and further delay of the 787's.

There are long delays on longhaul flights from Birmingham at present, is there a problem with one of the aircraft? I fly BHX to MBJ Tom374 on 5th May will this have a knock on to that flight?

Darren

I see that there is even more disruption today with BHX-CUN flight being changed to LGW. Would you think this will be all back to normal before I fly on the 5th May? Would Thomsons bring in another aircraft to ease the problems?

Thanks

Hi

Does anyone have any idea which type of aircraft I will be travelling on DSA-ANT Tom438 19/05/11.

Many Thanks

Barkes,

Refer to my post to Benleigh above. Engineers are working on it. It's suspected it was a young Bald Eagle that was ingested in to the port side engine of G-OOAN the other day in Sanford that was sliced and diced and well cooked by the time it came out the other end (poor thing). It was originally thought it would need an engine change (at considerable cost) but I've since heard it's being repaired as the damage wasn't as bad as first though. It was due to be back in the air again by now but I've not seen it so I assume the repair is taking longer than expected. G-OOBM has been in Gainsboro having heavy maintenance but is back at Gatwick and resumed normal service. I'm sure things will be back to normal for your flights.

delly70,

DSA-AYT-DSA (TOM438/9) are operated by a Boeing 737-800 (winglets). ANT isn't an airport code, Antalya is AYT. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Dazbo,

In trying to book two seats together last night on TOM 126/7 - 29/04/11 to Punta Cana/Manchester, we noticed the seating diagram had a 2-3-2 configuration. Does this now mean we are on an ex FC B767-300 and not the ex TOM 767-304er as previously thought,or have I got it all wrong again ?

Its an ex FCA however still expect a EX TOM with one seat left spare at the moment, its the same for TOM144 on 30th too.

Hi,

I'm not quite sure I totally understood your reply. Excuse my ignorance here, but are we travelling on an ex First choice B767 (2-3-2) seating,or ex Thomson B767 -304er (2-4-2) aircraft from Manchester to Punta Cana on Friday ?

Rotterdam,

If the seating plan is now showing 2-3-2, it's changed to an ex-FCA.

Up to last Friday it was ex TOM and the plan is/was to change to ex FCA this week, however this may not happen now because of several changes during the last 2 weeks to several aircraft, so the definitive answer is its just not possible to know until the actual day at the moment. But if it were a ex TOM then there would be 1 seat left free on every row because of the 2-3-2 to 2-4-2 change
