Chris,if it was me ,I'd go with your suggestion of First Choice flight going out and Thomas Cook coming back,since that would give a bit more time in Tenerife on the Friday,and is seems to be the cheaper option!

i was just trying to get the longest out of the shortest time, on and the cheapest price.

I searched for a night flight on the thursday as i think that is when they want to go, but i couldn't find one.

This would be the cheapest and its in and out of Gatwick, not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Heard on the news of possible strike action with certain airline so be cautious. Hope you get a good break!!

British Airways cabin crew have announced strikes on January 29, 30 and 31 and February 5, 6 and 7, 12, 13 and 14, so Friday 26th will be fine
Furthermore the British Airways Gatwick-Tenerife flights are operated by GB Airways, and will not be affected by any strikes by British Airways cabin crew.
