Great start TeeCee. Excellent result with the upgrades, especially Upper Class. Might spoil you for future flights though!

Looking forward to the rest of your report.

Part 2 -
Ok, our night in the Excalibur was surprisingly good The bed was ultra comfy but the air con was like a jet engine! Luckily we were so tired we slept but it would be a pain to have that every night.
Don't like the Excal casino, yes it's lower limits but it's grimy, full of drunks and kids (16 yo drunk kids that is). On Tuesday we got up at a reasonable hour and walked out to get some brekkie. There's a new Denny's opened right opposite Monte Carlo on the corner, so we went in, found out it was their opening morning so got excellent service and a free goody bag!! :cheers Had a decent breakfast, popped into MGM for a quick gamble, lost on a couple of 1c slots before hitting the mini jackpot on 'Jaws' and got $128. Nice. Headed back to Excal and checked out. Jumped in a cab to go to Rio for the next 6 nights. Cab was about $15 with tip. Checked in real quick in Rio. We're in the Ipanema tower, 15th floor. Room is nice, very big, not ultra modern but good for the 50 quid a night we've paid.
Ate in the All American bar and grill last night, we've eaten there before and had an excellent steak so had a steak again and it was fab, came with creamy mash too. Bill came to around $60 with a drink each.
Had a bit of a gamble on various slots, ending up down overall, not much luck going on with the gambling. We made a bit of a decision too.....we've cancelled the Monte Carlo yesterday and have booked the Signature for the 2nd week....I know.....bit extravagant but this may be our last trip to Vegas for a while.....will explain later, credit almost gone again... Going to get shuttle to the strip tonight. Have Criss Angel tickets for tomorrow then will see Penn and Teller on Friday or Saturday, tickets for them are only $37.50 if bought from the Rio if you stay here, thats half price. Got a nice bit of sun today round the pool but am sure they use melted ice to fill it...sooooooo cold :yikes
Not sure where we're eating tonight yet, will try to write a bit more tomorrow, can't find free wi-fi anywhere yet so have to keep paying

Cheers,

TC

Thanks for the info on the new Denny's. When you say it's opposite Monte Carlo do you mean it's on the opposite side of LV Boulevard on the PH side or so you mean it's on the same side, but on a corner?

There used to be free wifi at Krispy Kreme at the Excalibur, but I've read that it's closed now. Can you confirm?

Hi Luci,

Yes, it's on the PH side. Not sure about the wi-fi in Excal, haven't been to strip since going to Rio but we are going in the next 15 mins, get the shuttle to Paris then walk up to Luxor for Criss Angel.
Hot today, mid nineties....got a bit more colour by the pool :sun2 Last night we ate in Ping Pang Pong, the Chinese in Gold Coast, very nice food and really cheap....we over-ordered badly, got a mountain of food!! Best chinese we've had so far in Vegas. I reckon you could eat really well for $20 in there, it's award winning too. Gambled for 3 hours in Gold coast, slots were quite loose so we only put one lot of money in and it lasted, only tailed off toward the end. Walked back over to Rio around midnight both really tired. I said to the missus 'I'm just gonna stick $20 in a $1 slot machine'......with $5 credit left I hit a big one......$1800.... :D my biggest ever win!! Took an hour to sort out, filling in the details for a 'TIM'? So I don't lose 30% to tax, which I didn't. Oh my god, this holiday is turning out to be so good!! :really
We're going to eat in Paris tonight, in an Italian, not sure what it's called. Hopefully the slots will be loose again!! Speak to you soon.

Excellent win!! Way to go! That will be a W2G you had to complete so you didn't lose the tax, assuming it's the same for someone outside the US.

Can't think of an Italian at Paris. Only one I can think of is Al Dente at Bally's.

Posting this from Heathrow waiting for our flight to SF then on to Vegas. Hoping to be checking in around 4am UK time.

Leave some money in the slots for me!

$1800 win on the slots....get in there!!! Woooooooooo!!!! :tup :cheers :tongue

If it couldn't happen to me, I would always want it to happen to someone I knew (albeit in a cyber form) so well done Teecee and I hope the good luck you have had on this holiday so far continues.

Have a great time Luci. All these people going to Vegas is making me incredibly jealous!!! Even my Algarve tan is starting to fade to make matters worse..... :rofl

Ah well, here's hoping for November still and our chance to jet off whilst everybody else is at home!!! :rofl

Sorry for delay in updates, was waiting for free with-fi which we now have after checki g in to the Signature today. Am using an iPod to update so please excuse the spelling mistakes!
Went to Criss Angel on Friday night and am sorry to report that it's the worst show I've ever seen here. Very poor magic/illusions, was like an amateur, a complete waste of money. Only the cirque guys were worth seeing (comedy stuff). Really really disappointing.
Had ribs in TGI's in Gold Coast, lovely as usual but service was surprisingly bad. Gambled a bit on the slots and came away 70 dollars up, definitely loose slots in Gold Coast!
Pickedup car on Saturday, a dodge charger. Drinks petrol like I am water!! Went shopping at both the main outlets, I ended up buying nothing but Linda bought a few things. Got tickets for Penn and teller for Sunday evening, cost 45 dollars each in the end. Ate late in the all American bar and grill.
Penn And Teller were excellent, very funny and great magic, well worth seeing.
Sunday, spent day by the pool, last day at the Rio. Overall opinion of the Rio - really like it and would stay again, only negative is they check your bags when entering the pool area, no food or drink allowed, you have to buy it round the pool, not even allowed water which I think is wrong.
Had tickets for the Fab Four at the V theatre in PH. Very good show, tickets only 25 dollars, guy playing john Lennon was particularly good. Ate in the Italian opposite the theatre, food was ok but nothing special.
After the show we drove downtown. Watched FSE again, such a great atmosphere downtown, we love it. Gambled in binions golden nugget and fitzgeralds, didn't do much on slots but won 100 dollars playing pai gow poker in fitzgeralds.
Monday- checked out of Rio. Drove to lake mead to go jet skiing but because of very high winds most of the lake is off limits so we left it and drove back to check into Signature. Now in room on 28th floor of tower 1. Off to Bills to eat tonight, looking forward to a steak! :). Going to get Legend tickets for this week and we have tickets for Britney Spears on Sunday. Will write again soon!

Cheers

The Rio didn't bother with our water. They seemed to be more concerned about glass bottles when we were there in May.

I'm sad, but glad that you didn't like criss angel. I had seen loads of bad reports about his show, so I stopped Tony and his grandson wasting their money on tickets. I'll show them your report and feel a bit better about it.

We liked TGI's but I had signed up for the membership card before we went. It was well worth it.

Got a three day monorail pass and Went to Bills for our steak, wasn't as good as last year, probably won't go back again. Had a gamble in Bills afterwards, played Let it Ride Bonus which is both Let it Ride poker and three card poker in one game. Started slow but hit. Straight flush and then three aces an hour or so later, came off the table 200 dollars in profit! :D. Then went onto the Flamingo and I played the same game........ Cashed up about 40mins later another 100 dollars up, the table games are being very kind to me at the moment but the slots aren't. If the wind dies down tomorrow we'll go back to lake mead to jet ski, if it's still windy we'll stay by the pool. Plan to probably drive out to the 'M' resort tomorrow night to see what it's like

Cheers
