Regulars to New York tend to suggest staying away from Times Square and Tribeca and Soho are often suggested as they have a more village feel to them.

Thanks Luci, i will go for Tribeca area then. Hope the snow holds off this time, we tried to go 2 years ago and they had really bad snow and all the flights were cancelled. Still we ended up in Chicago which was great. :)

I would go for the particular hotel that suits you and that you like the cost of. Manhattan isn't that big and the subway is really efficient so stay where you like and walk or catch a subway. It's a great walking city
