Stayed here New Year's night 2010 in middle of severe front and snow. Roads and pavements outside were virtually impassable, no taxis were running so therefore spent quite a lot of time in the hotel. Not my first visit so knew what to expect, but if you're going to be stuck indoors, its a good place to be. Good sized rooms well-heated, spacious public areas,a large bar area, very helpful and friendly staff. Concierge even fetched boiling water to defrost car.
Ordinarily, it is also a decent place to stay in a good area, Ballsbridge, just outside Dublin city centre, very convenient for the new Lansdowne Road rugby ground, soon to re-open, for instance.
A short taxi ride into town (there's usually a rank outside), a bus stop, too, just outside the main gate or, in good weather, a 15 minute walk to O'Connell Street, St Stephen's Green and Temple Bar.
In better weather, too, there are excellent nearby restaurants, notably the Canal Bank Cafe, 3-4 minutes city centre direction and Furama, a Chinese/Asian, about 10 minutes the other way.
Another bonus is the excellent rates to be had on sites like, much cheaper than the hotel site... up to 30 per cent cheaper.
