The price of a room in this hotel is definitely worth it. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful! They recommended wonderful places to eat and helped with any directions. No problems with them at all.
The room itself is wonderful; we got a view of the canal which was incredibly, romantic and perfect. There is plenty of space in the double rooms; the bed is a lot more comfortable in comparison to other hotels in Europe. The bathroom is very modern with a powerful shower and towel warmer - lovely furnishings. There is a huge double wardrobe, free mini safe, flat screen TV.
But - the views and the location are what really make this hotel the place to stay!

We stayed 3 nights from Monday August 8th and thoroughly enjoyed our time in Venice.
The Hotel Ca d`Oro was ultra clean and tidy and everything worked..... Hairdryer, air conditioning, hot shower etc.
The decor and fitments were excellent with very attractive Morano glass chandeliers throughout...plus the tiled bathrooms of which they seem so proud!
The staff were helpful overall but we felt that a little more thought could have gone into the provision of services. There was no in-room coffee making facility, no mini-bar or refrigerator and although we managed to get a cup of coffee in the room a couple of times, it was almost as if it were the first time they had ever been asked for it at night. "The coffee machine is turned off.....I can make you a coffee......I will see what I can do"
The breakfast is very basic self-service with a couple of cereals, packet biscuits, coffee, yoghurt's and crouisant/rolls (cold).
This would have been OK had it not turned out that whilst we thought we had booked B&B through Expedia (Yes, I definitely did say that is what I wanted) it turns out that we were booked `room only` and were presented with a bill for breakfasts.
This was 10 euro each per day.........60 euros in total for a bowl of cornflakes and a pot of coffee...........not at all good value.
Our gripe is more with Expedia (and will be followed up) as the reception guy did show me his booking info from Expedia which clearly showed `room only`. When compared with my e-mail print-out which only showed as `services such as bar & telephone calls will be charged` we could not blame the Hotel for the mis-match and had to cough-up the money.
The couple of coffees in the room were charged at a reasonable rate, which we expected to pay for.
The Hotel website shows breakfast included.........but that does not apparently apply to non-direct bookings on the internet. Hmmmm......
Had we known, we would have eaten out as there are plenty of reasonably priced venues in the area.
In short, we rate the actual hotel at possibly a 4-star but the services at 1-star or less.
Overall we recommend a stay here (at the right price) and the Rialto Bridge really IS only 5 minutes steady walk away! There is also a vaporetto stop (No. 1 service) just around the corner. (Ca d`Oro stop on the Grand Canal just above Rialto)
