We went for two weeks in June/July 2001. We wanted a quiet hotel, with sea view near the beach. That is what we got. The hotel is the only large property in the area. There are one or two small shops and a couple of excellent supermarkets within very easy walking distance. The town seems to be full of holiday apartments for Portugese people so there isn't much charm.
However, the pool area is lovely. Its quiet and well maintained. The beach is a 10 minute walk away, over dunes. (No nasty road in the way).
The food is standard stuff but is well prepared and is satisfactory. Hotel entertainment is basic! Don't expect to be wowed, its one man and his keyboard or the rep doing a dance or similiar.
The staff were excellent. Our baby got a lot of attention from the staff and they are very friendly and approachable.
Rooms are a good size and ALL have a sea view. Nice and clean. There are 2 single beds pushed together, and a convertable sofa bed makes up the numbers if there's more than 2 of you.
The cot we had to use was not the best, but it was serviceable and did the job.
There are NO discos in the area. You will need a car or travel by bus to get to the nightlife.
We had a car for the two weeks and the driving is easy. It can be very scenic along the Spanish border with little villages available for a drink and a snack.
