As a family with 2 small children I found the Cala'n Blanes Hotel to be brilliant.

It was very clean, with the towels and bedding changed daily. The view from the hotel room was brilliant. We were on the 4th floor and overlooked the beach. The children's club seemed to cater for a wide age of children, even though my 3 year did not want to go in. The bar staff were always helpful.

I did find the food to be average, some days were better than others, but this did not dampen the whole atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel is close to Cala'n Forcat where we tended to go every day because of the things to do for children. It only took about 10 minutes slow walk.

One down side was that in the evening the children tended to do as they pleased (maybe the fault of the parents), by playing on the grounds outside. There were no gates to stop children running up and down steps and this could cause a serious accident.

I would go back to this hotel as overall it is good value for money and we all enjoyed it.

Stayed here August 2003 and enjoyed every moment. Have done lots of all inclusives and this was another good one.

There had been a neagtive feature on GMTV about a case of Cryptosporidium but we found that everything was fine - otherwise I wouldn't have let my children use the pool.

The pool was as previously stated on a smaller side and shelved deep. The pool man was always rigourous in his duty & it was always lovely & clean. Plenty of sunbeds earlier in day but not many by 11-12md.

There was a wide choice of meals - yes, veal and chicken featured a lot but always done different ways. There was always plenty of choice with snacks available inbetween at the restaurant ( mainly toasties, chips, burgers, and things to make own sandwiches). There was always about 5 desserts, cheese & biscuits ( rich teas not crackers), and loads of fruits and yohurts, ice creams)

I found the entertainment fine. Therewas always activities through the day - killer darts, archery, mini golf, etc, etc around the various sites - near the pool, outside resturant and on an eveining it was kids disco, bingo then a show. Mostly these were very good - Valentino - give a miss - unless you wind him up cheering until he thinks he's brilliant then you have a real fun night as he gets worse and worse and everyone has a great life.

Asthere is only 100 rooms it is a very friendly hotel where evreyone get to know each other. The staff know everyone too so it is really warm and welcoming.

We only ate out once - the chinese up the road ( not the chinese buffet) is marvellous - do try it.

A great hol in all

Returned from our week here on 6th September 2002. It was our first time on an AI basis.

Accommodation:- We didn't have a balcony just small double doors that opened inover. There is a half railing to stop you falling out onto the roof below. Nice view across the trees. No complaints regarding cleanliness although there was a bit of a musky whiff in the room (damp?)

Food:- The food was fine and again no complaints. The chef did a 'special' one night of roast beef that melted in your mouth - delicious. You cannot take any food out of the dining room which means that all snacks etc must also be eaten in there. Could be awkward in some circumstances as no-one can bring you out, to your sunbed, a toasted sandwich for instance, but this method does keep the hotel and grounds litter free. Even the childrens ice creams must be eaten in the dining room. Breakfast until 10.30 then its snacks ie hamburgers, hotdogs, cheese, ham, pasta, fruit, icecream. There is a sandwich toaster available. Lunch is from 12.30 reasonable choice. Snacks again, then Hight T (didn't go in for High T) Evening meals were usually a choice of 2 meats, fish, pasta, salads etc etc.

Bar Service:- No problems getting served but while we were there the hotel wasn't full to capacity. No snacks available from the bar apart from a few biscuits put out on a lunchtime. We only drink lager so didn't try the shorts. Bar closes at 12 midnight.

Entertainment:- Mini disco for the kids from 8.30 till 9 then bingo. I game of a line and full house. Then whatever the entertainment board has on offer for the evening which finishes around 10.30 to 11pm. This is followed by some dance music. There's not a great deal of seats in the bar/entertainment area. These also tend to get taken early evening by the mini disco visitors, so if there is anything you particularly want to see then get a seat early on. The seats aren't that comfortable either being quite small and covered in whicker work. There are more comfortable seats in the TV room which is part and parcel of the same area although the view is blocked.

Pool and Grounds:- The pool was of a medium size with a baby pool seperate. Showers are available in the area. Grassy areas all around the pool with sunbeds. A seperate sun terrace is situated over looking the beach away from the pool. Tennis courts are available also.

Beach:- We liked the beach, a small cove with soft white sand. As previously mentioned the resident sunbed man is there from early morning. Sunbed hire is expensive. I would imagine though that at the height of the season the beach getting very crowded.

Resort:- We liked the resort. You can take a pleasant walk into Los Delphins/Cala'n Forcat where there are bars and restaurants which are particularly child friendly with inflatable sharks etc for the kids to play on.

Overall Opinion:- We were 2 couples in our 40's and we didnt have any complaints. The other couple we travelled with had stayed at this hotel last year. They noticed a few changes from their previous visit ie no champagne and caviar on the bar at T time. Snacks from the bar also missing. The childrens early Tea's weren't available either. I wouldn't necessarily book to go here again as we don't have children and prefer a less child orientated hotel but neither would we NOT go here again if we were offered a good deal again in the future.

hi all

i stayed in this hotel in august 2002, together with 18 family menbers. when i first get there i went straight to teh room to find it looking in good shape and clean. the only problem was when we were showering, somehow the the water leaked onto the tiled flooring. then leaking into the main sleeping area. we reported this but nothing was done about it. apart from that the room was clean.

the pool was of a decent size although there were short on sun beds. there were also no entertainment around the pool, no music, nothing.

the beach is situated on the doorstep of the hotel, which was ideal. althouth the beach was very small it was very clean and appealing. there are pedalows available form a little man, but watch out he look a bit evil

the nightly entainment was basically s**t. it was the same each nite........ a disco. this is ok for the little ones but does not appeal to teenagers and adults.

the bar was fine, the staff were friendly, and there were planty of booze. it was all the spanish brands but u carnt complain when it is free, if u are wantning english brands of booze you have to pay for it.

the only thing u can complain abouts is the food , payin all inclusive prices should mean a decent variety of food...... not hear. it was the same each nite. salad, viel, fish and chips. this mnt that we had to eat out which became very expensive.

overall the hotel itseft was clean and ok but the entertainment needs to be inproved. also if u decide to go hear take extra money and be prapaired to eat out, as i very much doubt the standard of food wil change.

We are a family of four. A forty plus couple with 7 and 5 year old children and were on holiday at this resort on 5th July 2002.

The hotel itself is really nice. The reception area is smart and the bar / restaurant facilities are spacious and clean. The room, which we all shared, was a decent size for an all inclusive package.

The general pool area and ample sunbathing bathing terraces are large and boast sunbeds for everyone. The grounds are well maintained. However, we found the pool was really small and unsafe for young children. It is mostly too deep for adults, and not graded. Children could have difficulties trying to get out. If a swimming pool is important to you on holiday you may want to consider these comments - if not the rest is great.

However the location is superb and so close to the beautiful bay and beach, that hotel residents are allowed to take their refreshments in plastic glasses to the beach.

Food is good and caters for British tastes. There is not much international flavour to the menu.

Drinks are good and don't appear to be watered down. Staff in the restaurants, and in particular the bar, are very efficient and pleasant.

The animation team were just the best. The two girls, Angela and Vanessa are enthusiastic and very professional. My wee boy, who's really shy, just loved Angela to bits. The professional shows which are on alternative nights are top notch. On the other evenings there are good quizzes and karaokes. During the day there are all sorts of organised activities, so there is no shortage of things to do.

We had a really nice time.

Only a professional whinger can knock a family holiday at Hotel Cala n'Blanes. The rooms are spotless, the hotel is clean, the food is plentiful, and all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. As a small hotel it creates a marvellous family atmosphere and whether it is Loreto the entertainer or Victor and his team behind the bar everyone ensures that a good time is had by all. When we return in May 2002 we will notch up our 100th day in the hotel and we're still going back for more!
