One of Spain's most popular water parks, the Portaventura Aquatic Park offers a combination of rides, shops and restaurants and even a hotel for the hardcore water fun fan. Located near Salou and La Pineda, visitors to the park can ride its many water slides, take a raft trip or relax by the wave pool that laps onto Bahama Beach. Children are well catered for with a Caribbean-themed playground as well as the slides while there is a choice of four hotels and even a caravan park to stay in. Daily shows also take place in the water park's six themed areas which cover everything from the Polynesian region to the Wild West.

Most of the shops in Salou were closed as it is the end of the season and also the rally, but I found the place to be very dirty. we did not go on the brach so cannot comment on that.

We did go to Barcalona for the day by train and then had to get the underground i felt very immtimadated and frightened, I could not wait to get out of there, there are pick pockets everywhere.

I could not enjoy this city due to the fact you had to have eyes up your backside all the time to see if you were being followed.

Everything was very clean and well maintained.
The entertainment was a bit lacking in variety as I think it was coming to the end of the season and even the Costa Caribe water park had shut.
The beach in Salou was lovely.
No, we wouldn't go again as there are so many other places to see, we did enjoy it but as I said maybe it was the time of year, but it was quite quiet

We really enjoyed the Portaventura Theme Park and went there everyday. It is spotlessly clean.

During the week there were no long queues but come the weekend, the queues were horrendous. There were lots of Spanish who seemed to have arrived by train for the Halloween weekend. We were glad that we had our Universal Express tickets, which came in handy.

The kids were on and off the rides in a few minutes while the other queue was barely moving. It is worth going at Halloween just to see the monster parade (frightening!). The only drawback at this time of year is that there is no fireworks display.

We walked down to Salou most days. A few nice shops but most were selling the usual tourist stuff. The beach was very wide and clean. Salou itself wasn't that impressive. It was quite grubby with a lot of grafitti and the pavements certainly need a lot of repair work. There are lots of climbing frames and slides dotted along the beach which is good for younger kids.

All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely return to the theme park and the El Paso Hotel.

We only went into salou once,so i will report on the theme park, port aventura. It was brilliant in every respect, halloween theme ace, loads of characters walking around,in the hotel also.

The rides brilliant, went on dragan khan once, daughter and dad went on loads. Great shows especially the wild west stunt show.

I've never been to Florida, but I was very impressed with the safety checks etc. Can't wait to go back.

The resort was very clean and the entertainment fantastic.

We went to the beach via the beach bus 1130 from the hotel pick up at 130 was about the right amount of time.

You have to pay for the brolly and loungers and when digging a paly pit for my little girl found no end of dog ends from the smokers.
The brits drink the spanish smoke about 90% of them do!

I can recommend the day trip to Barcelona, good tour E39 each, went to see the Gothid catherdral, Nou Camp WOW !, and many other sights. Lunch at the Hard Rock cafe is recommended ( Nachos with chicken is all you'll need)!

We would go back it is a wonderful place to stay for the kids young and old.
Always ahve your camers handy the characters pop up everywhere!

Have an excellent time at the Hotel Port Aventura !!!

This is difficult as during the week we didn't actually venture into Salou town at all. We only saw it on the bus transfer too and from Reus Airport.

It looked very 'built up' and one hotel we dropped people off at looked very nice but was opposite a massive (and I mean massive, JCB's etc) building site. Also I kept noticing graffite. I don't think it would have suited us as a family as we like to stay somewhere quiet. On the plus side it's really easy to get to Barcelona on the train (1hour 20mins) which is a great day out, and Tarragona (15mins) is a small spanish Town along the coast with an old quarter which is well worth visiting. If we return to Port Aventura and the El Paso, which is possible, I will try to go into Salou as it seems odd to have been on a holiday there but not to know what its like when people ask!

Salou, not the cleanest place, back streets had a lot of rubbish on them.

Went to a good bar(danny boy) with air con which we needed , band on stayed there untill 2am when we were all flagging. The Park, Port Adventura what a god send , kids loved it especially huricanne condor , new ride.

Shows were good , esp the magic show, watch them all if the rides are not your thing. Free bus to salou but easier to get taxi, to beach, just 5-6 euros, ask to be dropped off at macdonalds and cross the road to the beach, it is less crowded there, kids can play football or ball games.

Toilets there too and the free bus picks you up from the covered bus stop. Enjoyed the beach, pedlos 10 euro for 1 hour, good value and fun.The Costa Caribe was a little boring but you have a free ticket, hire of rings 7.50 euros, but that includes deposit.

Enjoy your holiday we all did and now dreaming of returning again.

Have been to Salou twice now and enjoyed our second visit far better. I think this is due to the fact that we stayed in a theme park hotel so were away from the resort centre but could easily walk there when we wanted to.

Salou's beach and promenade are lovely with lots of play areas for the kids. Has loads of all the usual shops, bars and restaurants. Universal Mediterranea and Caribe Water Park are definite plus points to this resort. Weather was a little disappointing for June as we did have a couple of days that clouded over - probably due to the Costa Dorada being further north than some of the other Costas.

The Port Aventure theme park is brilliant for kids, our children wanted to spend everyday in there, we hardly ever had to queue with the express pass which is included in your holiday. The park is kept clean and there is plenty of places to get your snacks and drinks. Can't comment on the beach we only saw it from the top of the rollercoaster. Fantastic all round holiday for children!!
