This was the first hotel we stayed in on our Honeymoon and the first of many lovely hotels we stayed in. As it was Christmas, the lobby looked beautiful with a huge tree and a gingerbread house Santa's grotto. We were given an upgraded room in the old part of the building which had lovely views over San Francisco (although we were facing the wrong way to see the Golden Gate Bridge ... you can't have everything!)
The hotel is right in the middle of everything and you can walk or get the tram to Union Square or in the other direction, to Pier 39.
The only mistake we made was seeing that the hotel was only 0.6 miles from the station when we arrived and deciding to walk to it rather than get a taxi. We knew the hotel was on a hill but hadn't quite appreciated what that means in San Francisco. Just get a taxi!
