We will return

We stayed over the New Year again. As I reviewed this hotel last year I just want to give an update.

All was excellent again. There was one change, in that they've added a 'Starbucks' cafe. We didn't use Starbucks but it seemed well stocked and there were a few customers there daily. In order to house it they've made the reception lounge quite a bit smaller but there is still a small area for relaxing.

Pleased to say that our room decor was much better this time with recently painted walls and no mould in the bath/shower grout.

We had the same excellent service and same yummy breakfasts as last time.

I'm sure we'll return yet again.

We booked in for New Year's Eve and New year's day. First impressions were excellent. We were met by friendly reception staff in a large airy reception. All the public areas were spotless and tastefully decorated for Christmas.

The hotel had a traditional pub (Victory pub) with sports TV on large screens, the verve grill restaurant with bar and a cafe next to a very large indoor pool. There was also a large entertainment room where we had our New Year's Eve Gala dinner, which was brilliant.

The hotel had a spa and Gym and the pool complex was complete with Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There was also a small shop selling sports and swim wear.

Breakfast was help yourself style and the menu was plentiful- fried breakfast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, toast/spreads, Danish pastries etc.

The bedrooms were adequate and were complete with hairdryer, flat screen TV, iron and ironing board. The room however, could have done with a lick of paint and the bathroom needed updating- grout was a bit mouldy.

The hotel is in a pretty good location as it's handy for Cardiff, being only 3-4 miles out of the centre. There are buses running from a bus stop nearby.

If they spent a bit on refurbishing the bedrooms/bathrooms I would have given the hotel top marks.
