This holiday was a big disapppointment, after taking a fantastic cruise on the Spirit last June. We sailed on 12 May, the whole experience was blighted by a 12 hour delay in Bristol. No help from Thomson in the airport, and facilities could not cope with delayed travellers - only sandwiches available.

On arrival on the ship we found our cabin to be very small, with very little storage space. The power supply could not cope with UK appliances, as USA adapters would not permit hairdryers to heat up sufficiently to dry hair.

The food in the restaraunt was not too bad, but the service left a lot to be desired. The food in the Lido restaraunt was not very good, and the eating area was not very well kept.

The plumbing on the ship was very problamatic, blocked toilets & showers throughout the week.

Many staff on the Destiny appear to be untrained, and it would appear that the ship was very short staffed.

The evening entertainment was quite good, although it was very difficult to get a seat.

Thomson do charge well over the top for excursions - we only went on the Rome VIP trip, expensive but well worth the money.
At other ports of call we did out own thing. Very easy and cheap to get to Pisa on the train from Livorno. Similarly it was easy & cheap to get to Monte Carlo & Monacco from Ville Franche, again using local trains. Do not get ripped off by Thomson - do your own thing, trains & taxi's very cheap & reliable.

Thomson have a lot of hard work to do in an attempt to bring this ship up to the standard of other ships in their fleet.

After arriving on board I was told that I was not all inclusive when I was, this was sorted out in minutes. Also we arrived on board at 11am and I did not receive my case until 6pm after making numerous visits to Reception they assured me my case would be on board, it had in fact been delivered to the cabin below me. After these couple of mishaps what a fantastic holiday.
You do not have to dress up in fact we never attended a dinner in the Seven Seas Restaurant as I'm not in to allocated seating but the food in the Lido was excellent and service was excellent, there was never a dirty dish on your table for more than a minute.
Entertainment was first class and the performers worked really hard.
Cabins were a bit small but they were only for sleeping and washing. I have been on Ocean Village which again was wonderful but entertainment on Destiny was far better.
All staff were courteous and very hard working. Thankyou Thomsons you will defintely see us again.

After reaing the reviews before we went i was a bit worried about the problems others had encountered but everything went smoothly at the airport and the embarkation and disembarkation.
This was our 9th cruise and we choose it because of the itinery which we found a little disappointing.
The deck areas of the ship were good plenty of space and sunbeds.Cabins although small were clean and comfortable. The public areas were spacious.
food was very good in the seven seas restaurant plenty of choice and the waiters could not do enough for you.The lido cafe was good but could be a bit more self service than it was.It was good to go up late for a snack good choices eg indian one night.
We did not do any trips as we prefer to do our own thing this was easy as thomson laid on shuttle buses to the towns.
There was plenty of entertainment to suit everyones taste.
The shop on board was expensive.
All in all we really enjoyed our holiday and we would sail on the destiny again.

we sailed on 5th may the maiden voyage. It was a disaster from the word go. the cabins were cramped. the food was awful, the worst holiday food i have ever experienced. we waited 45 mins for our first course, soup, which was luke warm. there were no hot plates at all on board. getting drinks was almost impossible, there was clearly not enough staff on this ship.the lido upstairs was like transport cafe.there was no entertainment during the day, shows at night were good, but short.no dancing because the bands were not dance bands, they just seemed to play for themselves. not the the customers. there were repairs or painting throughout the voyage all week This ship was clearly not ready to sail. there was a mass meeting in the dining room one day to air greivances, we did not know where this meeting was taking place, and when we enquired, we were told by reception that there was no such meeting, a deliberate lie, to discourage us from attending. we signed a petition along with many other names, and awaited results.all the internet machines were conveniently off line for the week.even on our last day we booked an excursion to palma and were sent on the wrong excursion, many came back by taxi to the ship.numerous problems with toilets on ship all week. all this has been lodged with thomsons customers services, who graciously offered 40 pounds per person compensation, what an insult. we have referred the matter to senior management and to ABTA. thomsons must not get away with this!

we endured the maiden voyage on 5th may, we would like to hear from others who sailed this week, as there were numerous complaints and a mass meeting on board with management. We have been offered the sum of 40 pouns each compensation for a 750 pound holiday, what a joke?
so have you complained? if so how have you got on? we need to stick together in this matter

our holiday started on the 26TH of May and when we arrived in Palma one of or suitcases did not. When we brought this to the attention of the Thomsons reps dealing with passengers for the Destiny they were only interested in looking at OUR insurance documents. THOMSON should be responsible for any compensation not us. That said our cruise was most enjoyable Our fellow passegers were very sympathetic and supportive even offering us clothes to wear. We do not know their names but if they read this we would like to thank them. The reception staff were also very helpful especially Gillian and Cathy who organised free laundry for us for our two week stay. The service in the restaurant was superb and the entertainment was first class apart from the resident band who were awful. We would sail on the Destiny again but would be nervous about Palma airport as we have been informed it is notrious for luggage going missing.

We had a cruise and stay on the Destiny. Had a fantastic time. Been on Thomson spirit twice. This ship was just as good. sailed on jewels of the med trip. We had two twin cabins. Space was fine. In answer to previous questions we were on lower deck in the centre and engine noise was quite loud but not overbearing. If you are a light sleeper take ear plugs just in case. There was a hairdrier in every cabin. The pool is emptied every night and filled just before entering port of a morning therefore the pool is salt water. The water is not heated but is reasonably warm.Food was very good. We ate in restaurant every evening and the food was first class. All the staff were helpfull and friendly. Only night you need a tie is captains night, one night a week. Other nights its up to the individuals. Smart trousers and shirt is OK. You are paying for full board so enjoy being waited on. The waiters are entertaining and good fun. The shows are very good but the theatre gets full very quick.

Have been on "Destiny" for the past 3 years when she was "sunbird" I can honestly say I have never enjoyed my weeks holiday so much. You wake up in a different country/port every day, which are all fantastic. You can do as much or as little as you want both on and off the shift. The crew are so obliging and always smiling - they really can't do enough for the passengers. The food is fantastic and you honestly don't need a Tuxedo or ball gown for the 2 formal nights each week. Women can feel just as formal in skirts/blouses, ordinary dresses and the men CAN attend in just shirt and trousers (not even a tie if they don't want to). People laughed when I said I was going on a cruise as I get VERY sea sick on a rowing boat, but I have been fine all all our cruises, thus I am hooked. We went round canaries on Carousel in March and although weather was not good the crew made sure our holiday was just that! I really hope Thomsons don't change too much as "Sunbird" was a joy to be on.
