Have seen a cruise on the Marco Polo which sounds interesting. Sails out of Tilbury in January for 45 nights, visiting the Amazon, West Indies and the Azores. The price is £1899 which works out at just under £45 pp per day. Have only sailed once on a small ship (Louis Line) and wasn't overly impressed. The Marco Polo carries 900 passengers. So my first question is:

Has anyone sailed recently on the Marco Polo and what was she like? What about food, entertainment, facilities, etc., etc., etc.

My second question is:

Just how cost effective would it be to spend 45 days during the coldest time of the year in the UK on a cruise as against staying at home and paying for food, fuel, etc., etc.
